The deeper you go, the higher you fly.
You're inside is out, and your outside is in.

Dear newchristian,
It is a little bit unusual. Because the word of God and the Holy Spirit assure us of our salvation and when we are walking with the Lord (close to the Lord)-- we are especially in tune with the Holy Spirit.
When you are far away from God- the Holy Spirit is trying to draw you back to Jesus. And if you keep ignoring the Holy Spirit- you really quench the Spirit (and actually ignoring the Holy Spirit - is often times ignoring the word of God- which is where we have God's promises of eternal security).
i highly reccommend reading a book called: Eternal Security by Charles Stanley (it's an excellent book on how to be certain that you're eternally secure with God).
It doesn't mean that there is an inverse relationship because there are times when we are really walking with the Lord and the enemy will especially attack us. But when we're not walking with the Lord- to feel even more secure about your relationship than when you're far away is a bit unusual.
Feel free to email me if there are any questions you may have or anything i can pray for you about.
Kindly,
Nickster

A sailor on a long cruise rembers the girl he's going to meet up with as being more and more beautiful as each day passes . Then when he comes face to face with her, he says "What the hell was I thinking !"
Explanation #2 : When you are "close to god" you have all those bible thumpers around who can't wait to point out all those terrible sins that are going to send you straight to the fire pit .
Explanation #3 : When you are away from religion you are both a good person and enjoy yourself . And you don't see the need to comply with all those "salvation rules" that are thrust upon you when you are "nearer to god" .

This is just satan trying to keep you from drawing close. What you are sensing is just a lie. When you feel like doubting try really hard to draw closer to God and you will defeat this feeling.

No, not at all weird. Many of the greatest leaders and influences in the Bible and Christianity had to struggle with dry times and doubt. It's part of being human.

Yeah , that is a little weird, but I know what you're talking about. I had the same thoughts kind of.
I don't wanna sound cheesy, but maybe that's the devil's work that had spun you in all the opposite directions?
When everything's going good, he makes you doubt in the power of your Best Friend, when you are on the road to death however, he makes you assume that you'll be fine, when you're not.
See the psychology here? he's a liar, always was. He tried to manipulate your thoughts. But it is not you who comes up with them anyway, so don't worry about them, just know where they come from and focus on what the Lord tells you. He always gives us reasons to have faith in Him and not doubt.

This I say and testify in The Lord , that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk ,
in the vanity of their mind , having the understanding darkened , being alienated from
the life of God , through the ignorance in them , because of the blindness of their hearts

Self examination is part of our life as a Christian. Heed to the call of God to make you a clean heart. Read scripture, pray, and fast. Endure the journey for the reward is waiting for you at the end.

It's probably because the closer we get to God, the more aware we are of our own sinfulness. In the end, you just have to trust in the promises of God.

Of course. The closer you get to God, the more Satan is going to try to get you to DOUBT you own salvation!
Here's a little something that might be an encouragement:
Romans 8:35-39 (New International Version)
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[a] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
