Volunteering your time to a cause that you hold close to your heart: serving the homeless food at Thanksgiving and Christmas, collecting money for a worthy cause (you just get sore feet, no cost), volunteer to teach a class at the local senior center (whatever you're good at or hobby, etc), donate clothes or food that you have and won't use, volunteer time at your local animals shelter helping to clean the pens or wash the dogs, give blood at the local Red Cross donation center.....

Talk to an old person - they can be really lonely sometimes.
Buy fairtrade (ok maybe costs a little).
Write/email to your political representative and complain about farmers subsidies - these increase our taxes and make it harder for farmers in the third world to earn a living.

Go to the grocery store this evening and help people unload their groceries at checkout. People shopping the night before Thanksgiving need all the kindness they can get.
