i told this guy i want to get bigger and get up to a certain weight and he asked why i would want to get all the way up there?What did he mean?

Probably means that he rather likes midget body builders who kid themselves they're marvellous guitar players when they're patently not, otherwise you'd be quite famous - there's not many of them about so if you were THAT good you'd soon be recognised !-!

Once you put on weight you have to continuously work out in order to prevent the weight from changing from muscle to fat, so unless you plan on always working out throughout your life, putting on extra weight should not be soo appealing a thing to do.

Frank., I'm trying to figure out why you would even care what this other bloke thought.
But it is probably that you do not think highly enough of yourself, or at least, your physique, and you read wrongly into what he said.
Tell you what, you work on your body, regardless of what anybody else thinks or say's, and I guarantee you, you will end up a winner!

he meant all the way "up there" being the goal bodyweight which you stated.
