when that fertilized egg (known as a zygote) later splits into two separate embryos. This is how identical twins are formed.

If the zygote is the human life, or when the soul is given, what happens when that one zygote ends up being two embryos later? Does a new soul appear later for that second embryo? And wouldn't that mean that souls can be given at either the zygote (conception) phase OR at the embryo phase? Or does that soul have to be shared by the twins (which is why they are creepy and can finish each other's sentences)?

When God pulled a rib from Adam to create Eve He provided Eve her own soul.....right? Don't exclude the possibility that a soul can be added at any point that an individual is added. Why can't one soul become two by adding one at the appropriate moment (the split). We cannot exclude this, can we? With God all things are possible.

Great question aviator!! (I gave you a star) I'm an agnostic and I believe in live and let live, but why do some people pretend to have all the answers, when in reality, they are as much in the dark as I am?.......the bible says nothing about the souls of twins......yet some contributers would have you think that the answer to this has already been decided........by whom??.....when??.......what arrogant hypocrisy.......no wonder I turned out the way I have!!

Is it when the sperm has fertilized the egg that the soul is sent down to inhabit it or is it sent down when the sperm first attaches itself to the egg? Or is it not until after the dna from the sperm and the dna from the egg unite to form a new cell that is unique - is that when they send down the soul? I'm confused as to exactly when that happens.

I don't believe in a soul but I do know life starts before conception. The egg and sperm are both living organisms.

Every molecule has a soul. Every related soul forms a soul. Every human has a soul made of souls made of souls...

Okay, I really, really like this question. This demonstrates some real thought--and requires a lot more.

I'm going to go someplace quiet now and think about whether a soul can be divided.

THe bible states that before you were born, I knew you.

So, God already knows if there are to be twins or singles or more.

Just because we as humans cannot see it yet, does not mean that it does not yet exist. Major lesson here for all of lifes questions, not just this one.

There is no such thing as a soul. That would make the rest of your question moot.

it is shared...I think that is why twins can finish each others sentences and when something happens to one the other feels it...
