a cowardly form of suicide? The Bible doesn't say that smoking is a more acceptable form of suicide, does it?

Smoking isn't suicide, my friend.

If you smoke for 40 + years, you have a 50% chance of getting a smoking related illness.

If you put a loaded gun to your temple and pull the trigger, you have a 100% chance to die, 100% of them time.

Tobacco is not a form of suicide. I've never known anyone who lights up because they want to die. If you are ready to die, sorry it's not gonna do the trick for you.

People smoke because it stimulates them to be more alert while also allowing them to vent a little frustration. It is a risky behavior, but so is riding in a car, eating junk food, or standing under a coconut tree.

The Bible doesn't say driving is a more acceptible form of suicide, so I guess you should walk. But while walking carry an umbrella. Never can be too safe around falling coconuts...

You've seen it on the tv news: That bad boy pursued by the cops blows his own head off before he can be captured and tried for a relatively minor offense, and we call him coward for not facing justice. Now, had he been a courageous man, he'd have lit a cigarette (and perhaps called an attorney) instead, wouldn't he? Your question seems misplaced here, by the way (as does my answer, now that I think on it). Could you explain to me how this is a question related to gender issues, or women's studies? I don't always see all of the connections clearly.

Where do you draw the line? Is over eating a form of suicide? How about lack of exercise? How about drinking in excess? I don't think these are deliberate attempts at suicide, but rather unhealthy life style choices which may lead to an early death.

It takes more guts to allow the smoker to be free to makes that choice of what they put in their body, and all the hype from WHO is mostly untested theory. There is just as much damage to the lungs siting in rush hour traffic.
I`d rather smoke a cigarette than be stuck behind a diesel vehicle in my car.
Even fluoridated and chlorinated water does long term damage to the body.

Besides, the Governments love that tax from cigarettes and the more they can hype it the more they get in tax money.

Not only that, isn`t the world over populated anyway?
The #1 cause of death is life.

A cowardly form of suicide? I'd say it's a calculated risk for pleasure or satisfaction, presuming the smoker is not completely addicted (many are, many aren't). No more a form of suicide then skydiving or bungee jumping, MacDonalds or salt, cars or air travel. Most things are a trade off of risk for pleasure or gain.....

Have you any idea how many old people are alive today that have been smoking for over 70 years?
My dad just had is 92 b'day. He smoked all his life. I am not so sure its the tobacco that kills the people. It might be our diet. Its just real popular right now to shoot at tobacco.

each day we are alive on this earth is one day closer to death.

Does that mean that if we elect to cut our life short by any means, that it is suicide?

Well, then that would include, overeating, drinking to much alcohol, sitting on the couch, walking next to the road (a bit risky when cars and trucks are much more powerful than you and not always controled by the ones whom drive them)

Hopefully you get my point and lay off the one track mind things that do nothing but induce others to anger. You may not really get this point until the one point one track minds go after something you are fond of doing and nit pick you about it constantly.

While smoking can certainly kill you, that is not the goal of smokers. So it is not the same as suicide no matter how you dress it up.

Someone doesn't like smoking. Amazing!

No I guess it would not be acceptable. Would you say the same thing about getting really fat?
