I think she is entering into a cult. I, and another girl, are now her only non-church friends. If we tell her anything about what her church really preaches, she says we are giving her doubts from Satan. Any time she questions her church herself, she is told SHE is of Satan. Me and her other friend have been trying to help us, but we're afraid she'll simply stop talking to us. She refuses to talk to anyone else not of the faith...She's not converted yet, but is being "baptized" next week. All their ceremonies are private, including marriage, to non-members. I can't imagine not being at my friend's wedding! Is there anything at all I can do for her?

I am worried because her faith is so exclusive...and also, she is constantly told she is a bad person...of Satan...she was so much happier before. I can't believe she thinks such things of herself. She's a wonderful person.

You have a reason to worry about her!!! I have been born again for about 11 years now and have never heard of any true denomination of Christ that does this type of thing. First you need to become informed of the roots of the church what denomination is it? and then figure out how to battle this. But be warned do not attack and or make accusations of the church to her before you have solid proof. Ask your friend to talk to other Christians tell her that you are behind her in her endeavor to find a good church and that you are interested in her spiritual health, tell her yes there are things that are biblically wrong in the world but there is also biblical evidence that there are many false churches that get people wrapped up in stuff by turning scripture into something it does not say at all. I will pray for you and your friend. contact me if I can at all be of any help to you. Peace
Edited for Dave your information is VERY wrong, I have never heard of any secret baptism or ceremonies in most Christian churches, try not to generalize...I guess you have never attended a friends wedding or funeral who were Christian..if you did not go to their baptism don't think it was because it was a big secret...maybe it is because usually it is for the church body and the WHOLE family of the person being baptized.

You pretty well describe any Christian or Islamic sect.
1. If you have doubts you are a heretic or a sinner or of Satan.
2. You must not associate with those not of the faith.
3. Secret ceremonies only true members get to take part in.
4. Can only marry members of the same faith. etc.
You did not give the name of this "cult" but if you compare its teaching with those of the various Christian and Muslim faiths, you will find they are very similar.
Remember, almost all "cults" are a split off of an already established faith. Christianity is a split off of Judaism. So is Islam. All of the Non-catholic Christian faiths are splits from the catholics. Mormons are probably a split off of the Protestant movement. One way an established faith tries to downgrade a new one is by calling it a cult.
Learn more about her faith and you may realize it is just a different version of the same o same o.

Religion was made so that people would find peace, happiness, love, and improve their lives in general. Most people in any religion know this. So, if she has turned for the worse, (not what you perceive, but in general) then you may want to talk to her and be the true friend who would be a friend enough to tell her what you feel is the truth. If she separates herself from you, you did everything you could as a friend. God bless.

It is unfortunate that sometimes when people seek ways to find meaning to their life they end up in some less than desirable circumstances.
Hang in there with her, and remind her she isn't of satan, myself - I kind of stay away from "churches" , but if you go to a church, maybe you could suggest she come with you one day just to try it out before she gets baptized. The more she tries to push you away - the harder you need to try to stay in her life. You may need to just sit down and talk her and tell her your concerns, she may counter that you're of satan, for trying to persuade her from her church - tell her your not and your not trying to change her beliefs - just that your concerned about her - don't push too hard.
Honestly, it would help to know what church she is going to. could you tell us that?

It sounds like she is becoming a Mormon, which is founded by a false Prophet. If you have your own Pastor, talk to him and see if he can give you some guidance. But in the end, it is her choice.
My hubby has an Aunt who was Catholic, but married a Mormon and converted. No one in the family has been to any of the weddings of their kids.
Kind of strange when they have a Catholic Priest in the family.

the worst thing you could for her if you are sure she is in a cult is to allow her to cut all ties with you. make sure you stay always in touch, remind her that she isn't of satan and just be there for her. don't put her choice of church down, just be there when it all falls down.
good luck to you both.

Direct your friend in the True Way, the Way of Allah. She will see the Truth and recognize the evil of this cult.
There are many websites that may help her, including my blog:

Is she by any chance one of Jehovah's Witnesses? That's what they do. They don't associate with people outside of their faith beyond school and work.
