I agree with you. We have great leaders who have tried to solve social ills.
Society changes, and the rules have to change to accommodate them. Unlike Christian fighting science, like solar system, earth being flat, and evolution.
The Hindus are able to live in peace with nature, other religions fight it. Hinduism survives it other religions will perish.

If caste system being a social fact as told by Vivekananda, is perceived in the right sense, then, the present so called persons who upheld Hinduism, should talk about the problem of untochability (which is still there in rural India) and should have been solved. Is it happening? If the four varnas (as envisaged in Geetha) are strictly to be followed to bring the happiness among the people, then we should follow it strictly (in the real sense). Are we really following? Please let us ask ourselves for an honest answer. We are making Hiduism a handy device and use it according to our own wishes. All the four varnas are topsy turvy now. Caste system, if it brings happiness and congenial admosphere, shall we approach it in the right perspective if caste is a social fact and it has got nothing to do with Hinduism?
Why people are bringing caste system when it is a question of Hindusism, is, because of the four basic structures (or varnas or section of the people) conceived in Hindu philosophy .

You know about Manu Smirthi (which Hindus accept as one of the basic documents for Hinduism) which highlights the caste structure of the society? Shall any true Hindu denies this fact?

Hinduism is not a religion. It is a culture, custom, tradition, rite and ritual. It had divided humanity in 4 categories (varnas) and thousands of castes therein. (Ref. Holy Bhagavad Gita: Chapter-18 Verses:40-47) Not included in these 4 are the Untouchables, worst and dirtiest than animals. A Hindu always belongs to his own caste. Castes are absolutely unchangeable. A Hindu attains perfection (Moksha) by attending the job of his caste, he born in by nature. If he adopts any other job, he is a very big sinner. Only Brahmins are licensed to read, study & educate themselves, recite the sacred words and verses, attend temples, be priests, etc. If any Shudra (4th category-Varna) listens the Vedas and sacred verses then boiling lead is to be poured into his ears, if looks at them then red hot rods to be inserted into his eyes, if recites them then his tongue is to be cut, as taught and guided by Upanishadas and Manusmritis, the holiest & commonly practised books of Hinduism. The worship and prayer of a Hindu is only the job of his caste, he is born in by nature.

The Indian Central and State governments' all rules, laws, acts, notifications, orders, directions, clarifications, explanations and the Supreme Court's & High Courts' several judgements always confirmed that Hindus' castes can never be changed. If possible, one from higher caste would have changed to some lower caste to avail of all the government aids, assistances, benefits and facilities given to lower caste people.

I am no expert on Hinduism, but I think that caste is more than simply a social fact.

Are the Laws of Manu Hindu Scripture?

It appears to my reading that the Bhagavad Gita's core argument is based on caste--the duty of the warrior to fight. I think that Arjuna (contra Krishna) is right to resist fighting--it is not worth it.

They know very well that the caste system is not part of the Hindu faith...They are desperate to take a shot so they will choose all the things that Hinduism is criticised for, but which aren't official parts of the Hindu faith.

capn.edib has quoted extensively from MANU'S SMRITHI.-It is written by Manu a King (Human being)-it is not a Religious Text(Vedham) Vedham does not talk about CASTE (Jaathi)--Manu Smrithi is a Socio-Political treatise. In earlier days all Texts were written only in Sanskrit(an elitists' language). Pornography written in English,Latin,Greek or other European language is NOT a Religious Text.Vatsaayanaa's Kaama Sutra is written in sanskrit only-Itis about SEX-NOT Religion--Kautilya's Artha Saastram is written in Sanskrit only-It is aboout the role of Money power in Politics--NOT about Religion.Ayurvedha is written in Sanskrit only.It is about Medicine-NOTHING to do with Religion. It explicits the immense ignorance of the writer about Hindu Religion.Caste names are based on Profession--Kulal=Potter--Karmaar=Blacksmith--Pulindha=Hunter--no where in the RELIGIOUS TEXTS High or Low castes are talked about.ALL (without even one exception ) Kashmere Muslims Last names are CASTE names only (Like Bhatt=Brahmin--Naik= Kshatriya-cheiftain etc)--A Roman catholic Christian Higher caste boy will NOT marry A Roman catholic Harijan(low caste) girl --A Kshatriya Sikh will not marry a Harijan Sikh-A Shia or Sunny Muslim will NOT marry a Harijan Muslim(Lebbai)-even today in India----.In India CASTE is pervasive-imbibisive-omnipresent-like AIR-- in ALL Religions without even one exception.CASTE is OXYGEN for all Political Parties. They all will die without Caste-Why to blame Hindu Religion alone.

No where in the Religious Texts High or LoW castes are talked about is missing in the main Post.

What do you have to say about the following....?

" .........This ideal of CHATURVERNA is mentioned in the PURUSHA SUKTA, a hymn in Rigveda............SHUDRAS was destined to render service to the other three groups."--[The Indian Constitution by Ratna G. Revenkar, pg-15]

MANU: 2.24............

SHUDRASTU YASMIN: KASMIN:VANIVSED VRITIKARSHITA !!!...............

i.e. Shudras can go anywhere to earn their living....

And the famous one ............

" Atha hasya vedamupshranvatastrapujatu bhyan shrotrapratipuran mudaharney jivhachhedo dharaney sharirbheda:"--Veda[ Gautam Dharm sutra].,Mitaksharavritti.

i.e...........if the SHUDRAS happen to hear the Vedic Mantras, "boiled lead" is to be poured into their ears,........if SHUDRAS utter Vedic Mantras their toungue is to be CUT, and if they aquire Ved Mantras, their body is to be MUTILIATED by an AXE.

Another one..............

" SHUDRA TU KARYADEY DASYAN KRITAMKRITMEV VA ! dASYAYEV HI SRISHTO SAU BRAHMANASYE SWAYAMBHUVA !! "--[ 8/413], Manusmriti

i.e...............

" No matter a Shudra was purchased or not, use him as your servant since a SHUDRA IS BORN TO SERVE YOU."

There are many explicit examples in Vedas which confirm that THE CASTE SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED BY THE VEDAS.

..................

Note; This is just a reproduction of facts and in NO WAY be construed as the criticism of Vedas or Hinduism with malafied intention.

Weak-minded people always look for the weakest link in the chain. The weakest element of ones argument, to tear it down and destroy it.
Strong-minded people look for the strongest element, and build on it. Like the 12 Step program says. Don't look for the Losers. Look for the Winners!

They are jealous. They can not find much to criticise and they pick on cast system.
Which country or religion does not have classes?
Even in the failed communist ideology there was and is a hierarchy.

Bcos caste system is very imminently followed in Hinduism. In no other religion it is even discussed. It has been transferred to christianity also when they convert from Hinduism which is not acceptable for christians. It negates the very purpose of conversion. Islam totally rejects casteism. As few of the Brahmins want to boss around other in the name of religion they keep it alive.
