Do you believe that life starts at conception? For those who are religious, when do you think a baby receives it's "soul"?
What about the 50%+ fertlized eggs that abort on their own?
If you believe life does start at conception, why do you count your age from the point of birth? Wouldn't that mean your life started at the point of birth?
Do you think you that eggs that are fertlized and are miscarried go to heaven? Hell? Anywhere?

sheservesgod: I agree. Human life starts well before fertilization. The egg itself, is human life. It is potential to become a human.
Which puts strain on the debate of life starting at the moment of fertlization. Insta-baby!
I believe a fetus is still a potential human, in the first trimester, as more then 50% of fetus' do not make it.

Ooh, good point. I believe life begins at conception, but the baby is not technically "life" in my eyes until it is able to sustain said life on its own, if that makes sense.
I'm Pro-choice. So there.

Yeah her doctor told her that! He was getting big buck for legally murduring someone! The heart is in the process of forming, the beginning of the heart is there. You are right the morning after pill is the same as an abortion. Maybe some people say it isn't because you don't know if you are pregnant the morning after. If you are not mature enough to take care of a baby both financially and emotionally for the rest of your life you should not be having sex. No matter what precautions you take things can happen. God doesn't make mistakes, people do. I am not just spouting off, I have been in this position at age 25, with two boys already. I though about abortion, but now I can't imagine life without Braedon. He is 7 now, and has never met his dad. It is totally his dad's loss. You need to find away to rid your self of such anger, you sound very angry. I don't agree with your decisions, but please now you are loved and everything will be all right

Well, we don't really KNOW do we? But my personal belief is that "life" as humans see it begins at conception, and where there is life, there is a soul. But I believe the soul has been 'alive' for a great deal of time before that. Some would disagree and that is their right. This is my opinion.
The eggs that are aborted on their own, are just like other people/babies that die. Some people just die. Maybe their mothers body couldn't handle it. Who knows?
Why do we count the age from the point of birth? I don't know, ask the people who first came up with counting age.
I think they go to 'heaven'. Why would they go to hell? They didn't do anything wrong. Why would God punish someone for Adam's transgression, like many religions believe? We didn't transgress, Adam did. I believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for what anyone else did.
Well, that is my opinion.

No I don't. In Islam Al Baseer says that he breathes the soul into the fetus @ 4 months gestation. Then the fetus is a human being because it has a soul. During the first three months it is not human because it has no soul.

I've been wondering how this works with astrology ... I mean C-sections are becoming more desired ... so if u'r suposed to be born naturally on Nov 25 ... but u were cut out a month earlier Oct 25 ... does that make u a scorpio or a sagitarious?
Is your faite changed 'cause of your mom's desires to control u'r b-day???
Personally, I believe conception starts when the sperm penitrates the egg. I mean in sex ed they said it was astronomically a mirrical that this could happen. And now that I'm grown up ... reasearched statistics myself ... life is a mirricle!!!

Technically life started when the egg and sperm were formed. There is no soul, heaven or hell so I can't really give a valid answer to that part of your question.

Life and a soul and spirit are given at conception. Those who die prior to birth go to Heaven. They have not reached a point of accountability, that is the point where one knows right from wrong. Age, in this culture, though not all, is counted from birthday. It is impossible to know exact conception.

God has a purpose for the egg which receives the fertilization and is carried until labor. Once the baby gets its first breath, it has the breath of life. As far as the unfertilized eggs, they are released during the menstrual cycle.

Also, when that zygote (fertilized egg) splits into two embryos (twins) later in the process, do those twins have to share 1 human life? Or does a new one magically appear later?

Conception is when life begins.
The fertilized eggs that 'abort' themselves were not properly conceived.
Purgatory.
You dont count your age from the point of conception because you are not yet born.
