Read this article. I read somewhere else that a nine year-old rape victim received the same fate. Isn't this a load of crap? As if she wanted to get raped...

It's true that something like 30-40% of all rape accusations that are reported are false. But that's only the US statistic. In Saudi Arabia, the vast majority of complaints are true, and even after the court proves the defendants' guilt, the victim is still punished. What kind of legal system is this?

No wonder crime rate is so high there. The assailant can always get away with it.

If you read the article properly you will see that she received her sentence for breaking the law,not for being raped.
It is against the law in Saudi Arabia for a woman to go out in public without a male relative, the man she was with was not a relative.
It's a barbaric law and punishment but it is the law nonetheless.
Also the assailants did not get away with it.They have also been tried and convicted of rape

Because they see women as less than human. It happened in Saudi, and it was 200. In Jordan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, even the Palestinian territories - it does not. It's a matter of stupid tradition, a male run society who interprets the Qur'an as they see fit, and just plain ignorance.

She broke one of the laws in Saudi Arabia. She deserves to be punished. She was alone in the car with her boyfriend without a mahram(husband, sons, brothers, father). In Islam dating is haraam(forbidden) because it will lead to sex before marriage. She committed Zina(Adultery and fornication). In Islam it is haraam for men and women to interact with the opposite sex unless they are related by blood or marriage. She was punished because she used the media to try to sway the judge in her appeal. Originally she was sentenced to 90 lashes which is the punishment for women or men who have Zina before marriage. If they are married and commit Zina then they are to be stoned. The Judges of Saudi Arabia are subject to handing out sentences that they see appropriate. No rape is not the woman's fault but if she was alone with a boyfriend then she deserves to be punished. In reality those rapists should be killed in public in Saudi Arabia.

Problem of western people is that what ever lies are printed in their press or spoken on their TV they believe like children and have no ability of their own to think about it and analyze. When we explain they don't believe us like what their media prints on their heads is the final. Then they come on R & S and start making senseless comments about other countries, their people and their legal system.

because the quran always blames the woman for coming on to the man. it seems men have no self control see if the woman allows herself to be alone with a man not family she is to blame by their rejoining.

ps muslim men I have spoken to on line seem to believe women orgasm and enjoy sex as much as tehy do so they believe even in rape she gets pleasure.
