They're like any other breed. If they're well bred dogs from a reputable breeder and the owner is knowledgeable enough, and has enough common sense, to train a dog, they're great.

However, this breed has also been in the hands of back yard breeders. They breed with no regard to temperament, turning out dogs that are abnormally shy, or too high strung, very happy, etc.

It's a high energy breed that needs a lot of exercise to keep them from getting bored and destructive.

So if you want a puppy, research breeders carefully, making sure you buy from a reputable breeder.

Firstly, dogs are not born with anger issues (or any other emotional issues) - much like humans. The only thing that develops frustration or 'red zone' behaviour in dogs is not being cared for or handled correctly.
Firstly - be a good Pack Leader. All dogs look for a 'pack leader'. The way to do this is by using 'the walk'. Dogs will follow the pack leader in the walk (make sure your dog 'follows' you when walking and doesn't sniff around or lead you !) and in a short time you'll gain your dog's trust & respect.
All the best!

The American Eskimo Dog is intelligent, alert, and friendly, although slightly conservative. It is never overly shy nor aggressive, and such dogs are to be severely penalized in the show ring. At home it is an excellent watchdog, sounding a warning bark to announce the arrival of any stranger. It is protective of its home and family, although it does not threaten to bite or attack people. The American Eskimo Dog learns new tasks quickly and is eager to please

I bet they do if you call them Eskimos when they call themselves Inuit.

This is for dogs - not Eskimos, or Inuit.

If you meant Eskimo dogs - that will depend entirely on the individual dog and how he is treated/trained.

Please = educate yourself about whatever it is you are interested in before getting it.

whether or not a dog has 'anger problems' or is aggressive is usually dependent on the certain dog, not the breed. Go to breeders and take a look at their dogs. If they have a good personality, then get one. Also: check out shelters and humane societies. there are way too many homeless dogs without people buying from breeders and breeding their dogs.

Aren't Eskimos the indigenous people of Canada / Alaska? We can buy them now? Sweet!

I had one that constantly bit-when you turned to walk away. He was only a year old and I had to put him down. Knowing what I know now-his parents came from puppymills. I shouldn't fallen for his cute face :(

P.S. I ddidn't buy him from a pet store. The person I got him from bought his mom from one. I put him down to prevent him from biting/injuring anyone else and any future lawsuits.

I've heard that they're not the greatest with young children. If kids are poking their fingers up their nose they might take charge. I could be getting them mixed up with another dog though...
