I was listening to a preacher talking to an audience about how all of our friends that don't believe in the Lord (if we have any) are going to hell. I have a friend doesn't believe in God because he doesn't think that a god sounds very logical for the reason of life. I don't agree with my friend because I am a Christian, nor do I agree with the preacher. I don't think that God would send people to hell if they don't believe in him. What if one person heard from two religions with different gods that they will go to hell if they don't believe in them? Well then they are stuck and they have no idea what the right thing to do is. I say the right thing to do is the thing you think you should do and I hope that gods of all religions believe that too.

So tell me what you think.

...only if he does exist, but I wouldn't bet on it.

You obviously have never read the Bible, hate the God of the Bible, or are a Troll. What you have said makes good emotional and human sense (as long as you do not really believe in God).

The God of the Bible is very specific about worshipping Him alone, and the fate of unbelievers.

You can believe whatever you want, feel whatever you want, but you are not helping anyone by spreading the ideas you have expressed here. In fact, if you truly begin to espouse them, then Paul said in Romans that your Carnal mind is at war with God.

If you are at all serious about your question, I urge you to read:

Revelations 20:11 until the end of the Chapter. Then think about it again.

Would a JUST (key word here is JUST) and loving God condemn a person to hell...for ever and ever and ever.
Where they burn forever and ever in torment?

While some might think so... a closer look at Scripture says something a lot different... Perhaps seperation from him and a complete destruction (Rev 20: 11-15/ 21:1-5) )

Hell is a Christian belief, although other religions may have similar concepts. Will somebody who does not believe in the Chistian God believe in the Christian Hell? From that perspective, the question is meaningless to non-Christians, who, consequently, will behave as they see fit irrespective of the answer.

Any god I would believe in would be good, kind, loving, and forgiving.
Not a god of punishment, and revenge and exclusion.
I believe in people to invent whatever they need to survive.
Inventing god has helped this group run over that group. Terrorize this group, like this group.
It is about survival.
For my survival,I have not found it necessary or interesting to believe in any gods or goddesses. I am not superstitious, and don't think ghosts, devils, angels and other varmints exist to bother us, to float between planes of existence. It may be so, I have seen no evidence and it hasn't bothered me not to .
There is a lot of math I don't understand either. I don't get a lot of hocus-pocus about crystals and astrology. It has not helped or hurt my survival and ability to pro-create.
My sons are very fine men, and they don't think about this stuff either.
I do not believe in hell or a god in the sky who looks out for me. I think the concept of a "personal god" is about as sensible as Santa Claus. Wishful thinking at best.
Wherever evil people go when they die, I want to go somewhere else. I avoid them in this life, too.

Then let's put it in this perspective. I've said this before, and I also ask christians if they think this is right.

A man goes around and is the biggest a.s.s.h.o.l.e on the face of the earth. He goes around and kills men and pillages towns and rapes women and children. He wastes all natural resources and sets fire to forests. He has a million children he has no idea exists. He discriminates Asians, Jews, Blacks, Mexicans, you name it. But so as long as he goes to church every sunday and believes in god, he'll go to heaven no matter what he did.

I don't know about you, but if that kind of a person went to heaven despite how much he's done, then that is one f'-ed up god. A person doesn't go to heaven for believing in god, or god wouldn't be a perfect being (seriously, if god needed you to believe in him in order for you to go to heaven, he seriously has some self-esteem issues.), someone goes to heaven for being a good person in life. A person who respects others, helps out when someone is in trouble, and gives back to the community whatever he can. A good person gets to go to heaven, not a god-fearing massacring english-man.

Well I believe you just answered your own Question, What your friends and other individuals decide to believe are there realities. Based on that if a person doesn't believe in god, in their reality. They could only go to hell in yours (your reality).
I believe in god, But I know not everyone shares my belief.

When you come to God, you will be judged on what you know of the truth. Jesus told the religious leaders who saw the miracles it would be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than that generation who saw all those things happen. Nobody knows the heart better then God. He knows the motives and reasons of people.

I don't believe in God, but even if he existed, I would deny any God who came up with such a petty set of rules and applied them rigidly without even glancing at personal moral behaviour.

But of course, advertising a god who didn't do this would allow an awful lot less control over people, which isn't what most priestly types want...

it all depends on what the person believes. the preacher believes in that so obviously hes going to say this to you. but your friend doesnt believe in god. so to him hes not going to hell
