I would recommend the gospel of John (which tells the story of Jesus), followed by the next book Acts (which tells the history of the first generation of Christians) and then on to the next book Romans (which is a letter explaining the Christian faith to one of the earliest churches).

Those three books will give you a good foundation from the meaning of the Christian faith.

The bible isn't supposed to be read from Genesis to Revelation. It's always good to start with the Gospels or the Letters- they speak out to anyone :)

God Bless

The next book in the Bible you should read is the 4th book of the New Testament, the book of John. It is in there Jesus will be revealed as the Son of God. I think it will feed your soul in a way it has never been fed before. You are doing the right thing.

Start with Matthew chapter one and read the rest of the Bible from there. I suggest a few chapters a day until you get through to the end.

John and Romans are good ones, so is corinthians. I like it all. I found it easier to get through the New Testement but I also love the Old Testement.
