RealChurch, you hypocrite, do you not think it's a sin to use scripture to abuse others?

JimPettit, if stoning children who disobey parents is solidly based on scripture, why don't they still do it?

This shows the Christians haven't got a clue about what's in the JEWISH bible. They use this verse to back up their idea of Original Sin, that everyone is born in sin.

Judaism doesn't have the concept of Original Sin. Nor does Judaism believe or teach that there is nobody who does good and that everyone is evil.

This verse in Psalms was referring to a specific TIME in which it was written, in a specifice ERA, and it is NOT referring to the world today, according to Judaism. And that's the only meaning that counts, because it's OUR BOOK, WE wrote it, and WE have the correct meanings for it.

So the next time a Christian tries to tell you ANYTHING about the Jewish bible, take it with a huge grain of salt. Then go ask a religious Jew what it means, for the correct interpretation of it.

If people are too nice, just point out how nasty the Bible is. If people are too nasty, ask them what would Jesus do? I guess self-contradiction can actually be a really nice tool for pulling the wool over other people's eyes. "Their Bible says in Proverbs reprimanding a fool is useless" OH WOW IT MUST BE TRUE THEN!!!1 HOW COULD ANYONE BUT GOD KNOW THAT??

If their "calling" atheists a fool is soundly based in scripture - in other words, if it is *scripture* which claims that atheists are fools - then they have nothing to worry about.

For example: scripture says that fornicators shall not inherit the kingdom of God. As a Christian, it doesn't matter what I think - scripture states this unequivocally. I believe that fornication is wrong *only* because I am a Christian. So, if I were to tell some fornicator that, as long as they are fornicators, they shall not inherit the kingdom of God, it is not my opinion but scripture which directs me to believe this.

In other words, there is a difference between calling someone a fool, and claiming that scripture calls someone a fool - at least, as long as that claim is sound. Personally, calling an atheist a fool seems to me to be counter-productive to Christian goals.

You think you are cute or found some kind of contradiction don't you. Pat yourself on the back and feel good.

One old rule of Bible interpretation is to use the Bible to interpret itself. Remember, the Bible is written by the Holy Ghost as He spake through men. So in Psalm 14, it is God calling the atheist fool, not man.

By the way, pointing out sin is not a sin. It is a duty of every Christian.

Sigh...

Name-calling and threats, name-calling and threats.

What a lousy book. I'm really glad I don't live by it...or even take it seriously.
