No. You see, over here, we have this thing called a "secular society." I know that's a hard concept for some people to grasp, but Christians (in general) assume that maybe 1 out of 100 US soldiers are practicing Christians in any way, and that every soldier who dies in Iraq was fighting for secular causes, not religious causes. No US soldier joins the army as a Christian - he joins the army as an American. The US Army is not a Christian organization, it is a US organization.

I was in the military, by the way, and over the course of 5 years, I only met three professing Christians on two ships of 150 men each.

If they believe in the idea of martyrdom, and if they believe they are killed in the name of God, then I suppose they are. I used to be fully in support of this war, but more and more I am beginning to believe that it really is senseless. It might not have started that way, but that's what it has become. The 'powers that be' will stand their ground because of their belief, and not because of what is good for the people of both nations.

In a certain extent yes. They are fighting for what they believe, that being patriotic beliefs, and die for our country. They are being martyred if you are looking at it that way, but they are not dying just for their religion but for their country as well.

No. The American soldiers didn't fight in the name of Jesus so it doesn't count. However the Islamic Fanatics who killed them will be rewarded by Allah. Didn't you know?

this is not a "Christian war" so they are not fighting for Christ so no they are not martyred as a general rule. i'm sure there are a few though that stood for Christ and died in His Name.

Martyrdom is dying for the sake of your religion. American soldiers are dying for the sake of their country.
