Well I'm trying to get an English Bulldog, and I found an ad in Pennysaver, and I contacted the man who had them, and he told me someone had already taken the last 2, but the person who did is a priest and is in West Africa for missionary work and the weather is too harsh for the puppies there and he wants to find someone who is willing to take them and adopt them back into the country.

Well I contacted him and he sent me this

Hello Shaddie.
First of all, I must thank my living Lord that I found an intending parent for my babies, I also give thanks to the breeder that directed you to me. I`m giving them out for adoption. They are 4months currently and Akc registered all their shots are up to date. They are $400 each

What do you think?

Scam or no scam??

I've looked in the shelters around here for English Bulldogs but so far I haven't found any, I did find one a few months ago but I couldn't adopt him because they told me he didn't pass a temperment test, or something like that.

We wouldn't qualify for a rescue I don't think, because we have a small yard. And I know how strict they are on things like that.

BUT there is a park that I can always take the puppy to. So giving the dog excercise would be no problem. Just because our yard is small doens't mean he/she won't have excercise.

I did ask questions.

How do I know there is really a puppy?
Is there anyway to get the pup first and then pay?
Is the puppy sick with anything?
Is the pppy really allowed back into the country?
Can you send me recent pictures?

and he didn't answer any of those questions....

But I'm going to ask a few more things to really find out.

Thanks Everyone.

This seems to be quite common for the past few days.

I had contacted 3 other people who claimed in their ad that they were in Temecula, Apple Valley, and some other city. All here in california.
Which would only be 45 to 50 minutes away from where I live, they all kept talking about shipping the puppy, and I told them there is no reason for that because you don't live very far away I can just drive there and pick up and pay for the puppy in person, and when I said that, they responded by telling me they were located in St. Island of Cameroon, and that the puppy could oly be shipped and that they'd drive the puppy down to the nearest airport as soon as payment was recieved..I figured it was a scam so I turned them down. Then I went to the next person who had an ad about English Bulldog pups. And they told me the same thing except that they were located in Victoria of Cameroun. I thought it was even stranger and turned them down as well, then the third person I asked them

2007-11-21 06:55:17 · update #6

straight out if they were a scam artist or not, and they just responded by saying

Could you please give me a call so we could talk in person.
and then they put the number down which was 0002 something something.

I did not call.

the person located in victoria of cameroun, said "well if you don't prefer the puppy to be shipped, then you can come down to Victoria yourself, and pick it up."

Okay Thank You everyone.

I will tell him no.

If anyone knows of any English Bulldogs in the pound i'd love to know where, if its within driving range of 92408. I'd love to try an adopt one, It really doesn't have to be a puppy, just prefer one because I want to raise it and train it myself. But any age would be fine. And male or female it doesn't matter.

It's a scam! There are many many scams like this out there.

Basically, you should never buy any pet without meeting it and deciding if it will fit in with your life. If it is a pup you should also meet at least the mother. That way you can see what sort of environment it is coming from and what sort of temperament it is likely to inherit.

I would be wary of anything from Africa. There are a ton of scams out of Africa where you send the money and they never send the dog.

It's a scam. Either do it right and buy from a good breeder or try a rescue. Or you can try this and lose your $. It's up to you.

SCAM!!!! There are NO dogs!!! These people will take your money and you'll never see any dogs! Keep looking and don't buy any dog you haven't been able to visit in person. EVER!

i wouldnt do it.... it sounds like.. we have dogs without proof... it could be a lie... i would just keep looking in pet store's or animal shelters... cheaper, easier, and more reliable! hope that helped!
