Anyone can claim what they want. It doesn't mean that it holds any more weight than the breath from a mouth professing it or the ball point ink on a document. If atheists were really that smart, why would they deny God's existence only to claim that He's trying to do something at the same time? So, do you see how people can claim something that they themselves cannot substantiate outside of their own minds?
It's when people actually follow Jesus that makes all the difference. It's called faith. Faith is obviously distinctly different from religious affiliation. It takes some understanding to differentiate between the two concepts (faith and religion). So, where is the careful examination of these concepts? Don't intelligent people study a subject before jumping to a conclusion? If so, many atheists wouldn't attack them as they do.
After careful consideration of the facts (the Bible) it would pilot one to the conclusion that the atrocities and ills committed in this world are due to a rebellious disobedience to God. Because, obedience to God means to love. Just as I love you and Jesus loves us both. It has nothing to do with religion.
Being called a Christian is of no more validity than it is to be called an Englishman because you speak English. The name Benjamin can be given to a kid. It doesn't make him a Hebrew does it? If some atheists were really the great and intelligent people they claimed to be, wouldn't they by now be able to understand this before they conducted their daily barrage of vulgar insults and foul spirited remarks?
Ignorance is bliss.

Engage in presumptive generalities much? Altruism crosses religious lines, the question is, when these "doctors" give, do they make sure others know about it, or do they do it quietly, without fanfare? Atheists have a lower divorce rate because there is a higher percentage of them who simply shack up, therefore, when they break up, it isn't considered a divorce. The higher prison rate is nonsense. If you are counting those in prison who are believers, you have to consider conversion while incarcerated. I highly doubt more people enter prison as Christians then unbelievers.
Christians, by and large, are more charitable with their time and money. Smarter? I am sure you are aware that most if not all the Ivy League colleges were started by Calvinist Christians?
Engaging in inflammatory generalities is dangerous if you cannot back up your assertions with irrefutable evidence.

I think that the number of prisoners claiming to be Christians makes sense because people in a hopeless situation often cling to faith. People who are Christians prior to entering prison compared to atheists are probably still higher, but that is due more to the fact that the number of minorities % wise that are in prison, those particular minorities are also highly Christian. I don't think Atheists are immoral, however I also disagree that they are nicer (what study shows that), more giving ( your basing this on doctors, a highly unreligious group) and smarter...(again where is your support for this).

Many people are not Christians going into prison, but they claim to have gotten "saved" in prison.
Show us these "countless" studies which show that atheists are nicer, more giving, and generally smarter.
If calling all Christians morons, idiots, saying that no Christian ought to procreate, and advocating the extermination of every Christian in the Bible Belt is an example of all this kindness, I want no part of it.

Why did Yahoo News run an article saying that religious folks are more likely to act morally (socially)? And why do atheists have higher suicide rates? Why are atheists responsible for over 180,000,000 deaths over the course of a few decades?
Let's not split moral hairs here. People are people. Individuals make their own choices, and no ideology (or lack thereof) ever caused immoral behavior. Don't confuse causation with correlation.

Look up the definition of Christian, then apply that to your questions. And Christianity it not the only religion around. And true Christianity is not about religion.
And there are no Christians in the Old Testament.
Basically, Christian means to live a life like Christ (Jesus) lived His life, so if a so-called Christian is not doing that, he/she is not truly a Christian.
As for as the rest of your statements, where do you get your info?

When it comes to ethics, on has to have a viable reason to do "the right" thing. The real issue is not weather you are atheist or theist, it's what is right and wrong based upon? God's word? Which God? Society's needs? Which society?
Until we focus on this dilemma, war is the only solution, no matter what a person believes or doesn't.

Christians world wide give more than entire nations. Christians have high divorce rates because divorcees flock to the church. There are a lot of Christians (so called) in prison because of the benefits, not because of Christ.

 There are too many people who profess to be Christians but don't really follow that path in their everyday life. Then there are those who act in whatever way they choose, because they can always be 'forgiven'. If people actually "practiced what they preached', those numbers would be different. And it's not just Christians, it's people of all 'faiths'.

I wonder how many of the prisoners were Atheists going in and Christian coming out? A lot of people sure do get "saved" in jail, especially when the parol board is watching.
