Man....are you ever going to give it up? You've been at this for hours. Flogging victims is the crime.

Of course nobody ever DESERVES to be raped. The problem is the whole process gets pretty hazy when the woman is drunk. Rape is a crime where one partner forces the other to have sex with them against their will. I've said it before, I've rarely had sex with a woman where consent was explicitly given. "I would like to have sexual relations with you, do you consent?" "Yes, I consent." "Please sign and initial here showing that you consented." As romantic as that would be, it doesn't happen that way. The question is whether or not she ever resisted or said no. I imagine on occasion she can't remember whether she did or she didn't. So you say, well then it's rape because he took advantage of her impaired state when she was not sober enough to give consent. To that, I have two questions; 1) Where is the line between just drunk and too drunk to give consent? Is it in the morning when she regrets her decision? 2) What if the man is also too drunk to give consent? Both people are in the same boat and made exactly the same mistake. However, he committed a crime and she's an innocent "victim."

While the US has a large Christian population, it is not a country that is governed by the Bible laws. It is governed by laws passed by the people. If those laws agree with the Bible, that is good. If they do not, the Christians are not able to change those laws except by a vote of the people.
In the US, there are 50 different states each of which has its own laws about how marry is performed and recorded. The court of one of those states decided that the marriage law in that state was written in such a way that it violated others laws. So the court removed the marriage law for that state whic prevented men from marrying each other. In that one state it is allowed. No other state allows it or treats a marriage from that state as being legal.
The Christian church is working to get a new law written which will again prevents such marriages. They have already passed such laws in many of the other states. Hopefully in the near future they will get the law changed in that state also.
The Christians are also trying to get a federal law, which would apply to all states, passed to prevent such marriages.
You are correct that Christianity is against such marriages. It is the courts that did not use Christian law that are forcing people to accept such marriages.

Islam looks bad when women are stoned to death for committing adultery when that almost never happens to a man. The reason being that if a woman gets pregnant its obvious she has had sex (whether she wanted to or not) and so if she is not married she is brutally punished. However there is nothing to show that a man had sex or what man had sex with her so the man who raped her or had sex with her gets away with it. Its not about hadeeth, its just what happens to some unfortunate women.
I would like to ask Rock if he is a Christian - because Muslims and Christians worship the same God, Allah is their name for the being Christians call God.
Muslims revere the same prophets, such as Abraham, Moses and even Noah and Adam and they hold the Son of God in great respect - they just do not accept him as Son of God. You would only rarely hear a Muslim use "Jesus Christ" in the disrespectful way that we see and hear everyday in non Muslim communities.

I'm a Muslim-American and proud of it! All praise is due to Allah. This case that happened is just another proof that the governments in the so called "Muslim" countries have lost their way. There is no punishment for a woman who has been raped in Islam... and not even one for a woman and man who are not Mahram. That is unless there are four witnesses produced to prove that they have committed illegal sexual intercourse. Mind you those have to be eye witnesses, which would be hard to find under the best of circumstances. Allah knows best!

What you need to do- is to go on a crusade thought Islamic lands and set this straight. We don't use the hadeeth or the Koran, but the Muslims do-go fix them.

read: the end of faith, by sam harris. There are multiple passages in the koran speaking about how a raped woman has shamed her family. And it's not punished...it's stoned to death.

it was an ISLAMIC court that made this determination, sparky.
here's a quote from a news article:
"Justice in Saudi Arabia is administered by a system of religious courts according to the kingdom's strict interpretation of Islamic law."
I don't need to interpret or quote the Quran - apparently the justices in Saudi Arabia have done so, and this is the result.

You won't hear me saying islam is bad, I think all religions are bad.
In defense of those you're attempting to rebut, let me ask you this: Do you think such a verdict would be possible in a secular society that attempts to make all equal under the law?

sorry ahmed, but whether religion or culture--that publicly accepted behavior is barbaric. Any man or woman with a brain in their head regardless of religion should vigorously condemn such an action.
