The article below from CNN just broke my heart. Overlook the Hilary Clinton stuff - she's a very polarizing character - but read about this woman in Saudi Arabia. Recently, I've been rather embarrased of the action of my country, but look at what some others condone! It honestly makes me sick that any human being could think this is right.

Yeah, I heard about that. It's common all over that region for women who've been raped to at a minimum be ostracized, at a maximum be put to death. At least when the Soviets invaded parts of Southeast Asia, they put a stop to that (or tried).

I'm not sure what the best thing to do about it is though. The voices of dissent in Middle-Eastern countries aren't really helped when Americans speak out in support of them.

No. Just our application of it.

True Theocracy is the only hope for the world. Man has proved we do not know how to rule ourselves. Only our Maker can do it properly.

Hillary aside, the treatment of women there and here is not according to the Maker's Word, the Bible. Ephesians 5:15-33 and 6:1-4 shows how we should treat each other. Nowhere there does it say anything about treating women as dogs and men as gods. In fact, just the opposite.

Humanities future under God's rule is bright and beautiful. It is what is pleaded for in the Lord's Prayer.

When I ( an American ) went to Saudi Arabia I was told that if you get into trouble call the Canadian Embassy because the US Embassy won't do a thing for you. There are hundreds of Americans in Saudi Prisons for religious crimes which would be a crime nowhere else in the entire world and the Bush Administration won't lift a hand to help them.

Hello,

Theocracies can be evil in "any" culture or religion.
Please check out this article about a theocracy, John Calvin, still revered by many Christians set up in Switzerland and you will see what I mean:

I won't say theocracies are "evil" .... that's a rather loaded word, but I will say that theocracies can be lead by some very unfair minded people and doctrines.

Religion and good government just don't mix.... and that's that.

But in any case... Happy Thanksgiving to all.

True theocracy, the Kingdom of God with Christ as King, will soon put an end to all atrocities when it destroys all of man's
governments.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

There is nothing that says a theocracy has to oppress people.

Also, please remember that what is "fair" is highly subjective. The husband of the woman in question calls the Saudi legal system and culture highly respectful of women (and thus finds this instance to be an injustice). Just because they do not behave like us does not make them evil.

I'm getting really annoyed with these articles having headlines like "Rape victim gets stiffer punishment." It's misleading. Yes, she's a rape victim. Yes, she got a stiffer punishment. But she was NOT punished for being raped.

NO... twisting a religion into something that causes harm and suffering is simply terrifying and should be dealt with. Saudi isn't the only culture which has groups of people who enjoy being non-virtuous and call it "Islam", "Christianity", "Asatru", etc.

This has nothing to do with Theocracy but a law that disfavors the freedom of women.

Theocracies are bad. We've never had a Minister for a President... And for Good reason.
