Some religions throughout history have practiced human sacrifice. More have not. You cannot generalize it as a pagan practice.
The sacrifice generally isn't intended to do anything for the victim, although some cultures consider being sacrificed an honor and will volunteer for it. The purpose may be to feed a deity blood which it needs to survive, or to simply dedicate a valuable member of the population to the deity in order to gain the deity's favor.

No. Paganism generally has to do with worshipping the goddesses. They focus on the earth and the natural aspects of the world. It has nothing to do with human sacrifice. It is not anything like what the Christians make it out to be.
