There is absolutely no need to panic and there is no need to lock her in a kennel. Her season will last for three weeks. She will bleed for about ten days then gradually start to dry up but don't be fooled it's all over because this is the time when she is ovulating and her mating days are usually between the 11th and 14th days but all dogs vary and she can still mate with a dog and become pregnant right up to the end of her season.

If you take her outside make sure you keep her on a lead and use an anti-mate spray around her rear end to deter any unwanted suitors. The best thing to do is take her walking somewhere where there aren't any other dogs around if you can. Keep a watchful eye on her and make sure she doesn't get out of the house on her own.

I personally don't agree with putting diapers on females in heat because the natural thing for the dog to do is to lick that area to keep it clean and by putting diapers on them you are preventing what comes naturally. You could confine her to the kitchen or somewhere where there is a washable floor during the time she is spotting.

My advice would be to let her have her season and then have her spayed in three months' time once all her hormones have settled down. It will save you a lot of worry in the future.

Good luck.

I easily have been working with a breed particular rescue team for the final 10 Years and it is human beings such as you that shop me and the different rescue team and safeguard busy. you don't be responsive to sufficient to be breeding and could the two have your female spayed or giver her up and raise corn for ethanol. it is obvious which you have accomplished no study into what you're doing and the breeder that to procure the dogs could have lengthy gone to an identical college you have. the only reason to reproduce a dogs is for teach and any respected breed might have made you sign a settlement to have the animal spayed in case you weren't going to teach it besides as knowledgeable you on the ins and out of breeding. There are thank you to many dogs in this u . s . that want residing house and thank you to few residences.

there is nothing you can do from keeping her out of heat except getting her fixed. you cannot do that now until she comes out of heat. keeping her in her kennel will keep male dogs from getting to her for the time being, but know this I have seen male dogs go through screen doors and windows to get to a female so be sure you have her in a secure area. if she is a breed you want to breed, then you can find a local party with the same breed and take her there to be bread. be sure they are a rliable breeder with a secure pen so that your dog isn't cross bred with a straggler walking through the yard.

And locking her in her kennel is going to stop it? Sorry, trying to follow you logic. You can get the diapers for indoors, but mine was not fond of that. Basically keep her away from male dogs and know you are going to have to shampoo your carpets soon! And while you are at it, call your vet and make an appointment for her to be spayed if you are looking to stop it permanently.

Call the vet and set up a spay appointment.

In the mean time KEEP HER AWAY FROM ALL MALE DOGS for 21-25 days!!!

Take her out on a leash and bring her back in with you. Don't leave your dog outside unsupervised.

go about things as normal, but do not let her outside without a leash on. if she is inside, get some dog diapers. they are a pain in the ***, but really the only remedy. if she is outside you better make sure the kennel is triple secure or you will have some little mixed breed pups soon.

Do not let her out of your sight!!! Go get her some of those doggie pads and be sure to keep her on a leash and close to the door when you go outside fi there are any lurking dogs around!!! It's no fun, especially if you have a big dog!

Get her spayed of course! Call your vet now and schedule an appointment two weeks from now. It's very frustrating for a dog to go through that if she is not being mated.

What you SHOULDN"T do is let her near any male dogs at this time and do not let her off of her lead when you take her out for walks.

Keep her out of reach with male dogs unless you want litter/puppies. Make sure you wash the blood that she leaves behind up. She will be very wild and will seem to be another dog. Beware of the male dog!(If you do not want her to mate!)

Nothing much you CAN do! Just keep her away from male dogs until the heat passes.
