ignoring the rest of your question except the title. I have asked a similar question to which I didn't get a realistic answer, it seems Israel is more a liability in the middle east than helpful. I asked why there are considered so important compared to other allies that go to war with the US, Aussies have fought in WWII, Korea Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, Australia doesn't get large hand out that we can spend on what ever we wish.
it just doesn't make any sense, the Israelis have done pretty awful stuff yet seem above the law.
you won't get the answer on yahoo.
unless you get top secret clearance and find out exactly what hold Israel has over the USA or what the US gets out of it. it will remain on of life's mystery's.

Israel is the only democracy in the area. That alone is what we want, to spread democracy. During the first gulf war, Israel came very close to attacking Iraq. The first president Bush had to convince them not to. If Israel became involved in Iraq, most middle eastern countries would feel uneasy about it and turn against us as they hate Israel. They would be a big target. In terms of why do American Jews only join the Israeli military, this is untrue. I am an American Jew and I almost joined the Air force (my wife talked me out of it) and never considered joining the Israeli military. I know many Jews who joined the US military and I do not know even one who joined the Israeli military. It sounds like to me that you have some prejudge in your feelings about this issue.

no longer something it does not might desire to. the united states of a has greater Jews in the inhabitants than everywhere else and all presidents choose this vote to get into place of work. for this reason if US presidents have been to go away Israel to clean up its very own mess they could be out of place of work. think of of what happened to the components forwarded to the IRA from the states at the same time as that they had a president with Irish ancestors (Kennedy and so on).

Maybe because the Israel is smart enough to not put their nose into places they aren't wanted in? It's not like Iraq called America for help, this is an example of sticking your nose into someone else's business, Its like the saying in hind, 'Begani shadi main Abdullah diwana' ( in a stranger wedding Abdullah goes crazy, an example is 'the war'.)

Only a moron would send Israeli troops to a Middle Eastern country and think it would help in stablizing things.

Israel is helping the war on terror more than any other country, you can be sure of that.

The best thing Israel has done for the USA is give us a 500% return on any kind of aid we've given them over 60 years by building an amazing, successful Western country.

Again you show total ignorance of what it means to be Allies.

Israel provides a very good base for the USA and provides a lot of military intelligence to the USA, also if the Israelis were to openly involve themselves in Iraq by sending troops it would unite the more peaceful Arabs into joining the fundamentalists.

Your reference to there being no people of the Jewish persuasion in the American Military is totally wrong and shows your biased attitude to members of the American Jewish Community.

The American Jewish Community have provide many members to the US Military in past wars as well as this one.

I served with both American Muslim & Jewish Soldiers in Iraq. They even got along

And to answer your other question, every Soldier in Iraq carries an Isreali designed Battle Dressing Light years better than Our old dressing.

Think about it if Israel was to send troops to Iraq that would inflame anti American and anti-Jewish extremist even more and we could loose support from other Arab country's. There are many American Jews who serve this country's armed forces although some do serve in the Israeli military to ensure citizenship in Israel and the U.S. because American Jews can have duel citizenship.

Funny, I knew SEVERAL Jews in the Navy, in fact they had soo many that there was Several Jewish Chaplins in uniform (They even wore a specific symbol, The two tablets, on their uniform)

Israel has helped us in several ways, many you'll never know about, due to security issues.

What a load of mule muffins! I don't know if you remember the attack on the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro during the Reagan administration. Some of those who carried out that attack tried to escape from Egypt on a civilian airliner. Our Navy combat jets intercepted that plane and forced it to land at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily. Once the terrorists were on the ground and found out the commanding officer of that air station was a Jew they begged to be taken into Italian custody.
The father of our nuclear Navy, Admiral Hyman Rickover was a Jew. The first Chief of Naval Operations in the Navy's history to go from the rank of seaman to four-star admiral and head up the Navy was Admiral Mike Borda. He was a Jew! I served with thousands of Jews during my Navy career, both with the fleet and the Fleet Marines.
As for what Israel ever did for us, try to strike up a conversation with any Air Force pilot or Naval aviator who served during the Cold War and trained at Operation Red Flag held at Nellis Air Base in Nevada. Training so realistic that the aggresor squadron flew captured Soviet MIG aircraft to lend the ultimate realism in training our aviators and pilots to fight the Soviets in the air. Every one of those planes came to us from the Israelis after they captured them from the Egyptians during the Six Day War.
Your "discourse" just proves how ignorant bigots are. BTW, I'm Catholic!
