It's real good. Sushi and Sashimi when made right almost have no fishy taste and if you're eating the dozens of flavorful rolls you taste the other ingredients first. Mix a little soy with Wasabi to dip in and you're on your way.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I think it's an aquired taste though. Like caviar (which is deeelicious lol).
I would recommend that you start with California rolls. They're probably americanized, but it's basically vegetarian sushi. I know, ruins the point of calling it sushi, but seaweed does take some getting used to.
Then, if you don't mind the seaweed and stuff, you can try real sushi. Just make sure you get it from a good place, not some random grocery store.

^.^

Yes while in the service over-sea's I enjoyed the real thing many times. Very few places here in the states serve real Sushi, most places in California modify it into sick stuff unrelated to Sushi. In New Orleans there are only a handful of places which serve the real thing. All the others are fake Sushi as I call it.

I love sushi! As a matter of fact I'm going out for sushi tonight!

Start with something easy, i.e California Rolls (aka starter sushi) then maybe try some shrimp and tuna. You may want to avoid eel, squid or octopus until next time.

In my young ignorance, I always thought certain ethnic cuisine sounded, looked, smelled, etc. gross. My perspective has changed dramatically when I forced myself to actually try the food before judging it. When it comes to sushi, I too was nervous at the thought of eating something raw. Let me tell you that the moment I dipped that piece of salmon in soy sauce and dropped it in my mouth was heavenly. Salmon has a buttery texture that just melts in your mouth and the taste is so good that mere words cannot justify its description. I love it. Tuna, yellow-tail, and swordfish are also good, but salmon does it for me. Some advice: do not over chew, do not drench in soy sauce, choose a good Japanese restaurant with high quality fish, and enjoy with tea.
Good Luck

not every kind of sushi has raw fish, as a matter of fact very very little of it is raw fish, most of it is crab, eel, fish etc, and 90% is cooked. Tell them when you order that you want no raw fish. I dont even eat fish at all and i have Vegeterian sushi, with all sorts of different vegetables and im sure they would have no problem accomidating to what you want also ;)

There are plenty of sushi rolls that don't have raw fish in them. Ask a waitperson for their recommendations for a roll without raw fish. Last night I had sushi, and both of my rolls weren't raw. I had one with crab, salmon, avocado and cream cheese and another one with avocado and shrimp. Both totally yummy.

Sushi does not mean raw fish. Sushi means "vinegared rice."

I lovelovelove sushi (or maybe it's just the wasabi). I get either avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, veggie fashion rolls, or avocado-cucumber rolls.

its really good! but you might get freaked out about the texture. but you get used to it if you like the flavor. also make sure you go get it at a good place! alot of places have gross sushi or bad meat.
