Ok, I'd like to ask a serious question and that is why do most people view marijuana as a harmful drug and something that should be labeled as illegal? You should really either have tried it or seen or had an experience with someone on it in order to claim it as something bad, not take peoples word for it. People lie about everything, even your parents lied to you since you were little, even if a white lie like the Easter bunny or Santa.
I will start off by saying yes I do smoke marijuana, pot, trees, weed, that sticky icky whatever you'd like to call it I smoke it. Now while I don't do it every day of every week most will say once is enough and that it's illegal and will make you retarded, mess up your lungs, make you lazy and all types of things. First of all smoking pot is no more dangerous than if you were to actually go out drinking or were to go outside to have a cig....

Drinking I consider more dangerous than pot because drinking leads to being very unfocused, quick mood changes, very impaired vision, liver cancer and from what I've seen in my friends never me, but it leads to a lot of dumb decisions. Then cig's discolor and rot your teeth and will probably give you lung cancer a lot faster than if you were to smoke pot. Yes smoking pot does give you the urge to become lazy but it's called an urge, meaning you don't have to give into it. I know people who have become lazy and don't do anything but sit in the house and play video games and smoke, but thats cause they are weak minded. The only way pot is harmful to you besides the fact that it slows your reaction time, so try to avoid driving and can cause lung cancer like cig's is if you are to weak minded....

Marijuana is just like an legalized drug (Cig's and Alcohol) and that is if you are too weak minded to handle them or anything to mind that then you will eventually become addicted, whether to illegal drugs, legal drugs, drinking, eating, not eating and so on. I myself had quit for about a year, smoked, quit again for another 2 1/2 years and now currently am smoking again, but the point is it's not a dangerous drug, unless you make it one. Therefore it's not the drug that is the huge danger but rather that the danger is more in your head and your willpower. If you are weak eventually it won't be enough for you and you'll eventually do more harder drugs.

the only thing i dislike about it is that it makes you lazy. i don't think of it as dangerous drug, i think it should be a natural remedy for some illnesses, and the gov't should legalize it so they could tax it. i agree with you about drinking booze being worse than smoking pot. i'd rather smoke pot over nasty cigarettes too, however if it was legalized i still wouldn't smoke it (personal pref).

Pot has long been thought to be a gateway drug which leads to other drug use. I don't think that's true - I think alcohol does that. Besides if someone has an addictive personality, they are going to experiment anyways. People who claim pot makes them lazy are either smoking too much or are lazy to begin with. Alcohol is so much more harmful than pot. Nobody dies of overdoses and it has no physically addictive properties, although it may cause psychological dependency. It's unlikely that someone high on marijuana would break into a car, resort to violent crime, or turn to prostitution to support a habit like alcohol and other drugs. I'm an occassional pot smoker and almost everyone I know smokes too and we're all productive adults and no one has ever mugged a granny to get their fix.
Ounce for ounce, pot does contain more tar than cigarettes but most people aren't smoking 20 joints a day either.

1. It's a gateway drug. As you put it, there's a lot of "weak" people who can use it, and from using it they begin to use other, more hardcore drugs. Eventually it WILL get the best if you if you start using other drugs.
2. I've seen weed screw up people's lives. I grew up around a half brother who used to even grow it in my own ******* house, and even deal it. I've seen countless people throw their lives away simply because they used their paychecks to get high and for nothing else. What kind of life is that? Yes, I do admit people can smoke every now and then for the fun of it, but if you keep up at it, it can get the best of you in stressful situations. I used to crave it like a person would crave cigarettes, or an alcoholic would crave alcohol. The more you smoke it, the more you need to smoke each time you get high to get the same effects you used to. You can even become psychologically dependent on it.
3. I've tried it myself. I actually used to smoke it regularly. What the hell is so special about it? Really, if you think it's fun to sit in a room and smoke and then just trip out for the next few days, go get a hobby or something. There's countless better things to do with your time.
4. People can lace pot with other things, this is what happened to me the first time I smoked with my ex boyfriend. How would they regulate pot that was good and pot that was contaminated? I can't really see the Government setting up a "pure marijuana" act. It just seems comical more than serious if they made it legal.
5. Marijuana has cancer causing chemicals, and you're going to start coughing and wheezing a lot more from continued use of it. It also will weaken your immune system so it'll be easier for you to get sick.
I could go on for a long time, but I'll spare everybody and stop here :p

United States, stats from 2000.
Tobacco use (smoking) resulted in 435,000 deaths or 18.1% of the total deaths.
Poor diet and physical inactivity lead to 365,000 deaths or 15.2% of the total deaths.
Alcohol consumption resulted in 85,000 deaths or 3.5% of the total deaths.
Microbial agents resulted in 75,000 deaths or 3.1% of the total deaths.
Toxic agents resulted in 55,000 deaths or 2.3% of the total deaths.
Motor vehicle crashes resulted in 43,000 deaths or 1.8% of the total deaths.
Incidents involving firearms resulted in 29,000 deaths or 1.2% of the total.
Sexual behaviors resulted in 20,000 deaths or 0.8% of the total.
Marijuana...resulted in 0, that is ZERO deaths.
We have SOOOOO many other things to regulate and worry about people. For those ignorant folks out there, google why weed was made illegal back in the 20's and you'll find a history of racial profiling, oh!, go figure, and just plain old stupidity.

I think you may need to update your information because studies have shown that marijuana is indeed harmful to your health. It impairs your judgment and is addictive. It often serves as a gateway drug to other harder drugs. It takes your money and encourages a completely illegal underground crime culture. How could this be good? It takes your money and your freedom. Please stop smoking pot now.

I know that pot is more harmful to your lungs than cigs are, but other than that, i heard that one of the big reasons why pot is illegal, is because the government can't regulate/tax it. I personally don't care one way or the other if you, or anyone else smokes weed. We all have our vices...

Funny you should ask. I have never tried it and never will. In 46 years I have seen it destroy relationships between sons and Mothers; daughters and Fathers; husbands and wife; grandparents and grandchildren; man and woman and God. Any time be it pot ,alcohol, drugs, sex or money and we have to find excuses why it isn't wrong then we do have a problem. Anything that we have to hide and can't do with out guilt has to be wrong. So if you thing it isn't wrong and you can do it in front of everyone . parents, grandparents, husbands, wives, children, pastor of your church and even GOD. Then there is your answer.
