... you'd have to sacrifice the life of your child, would you allow it to happen? He'd give you the choice, and if you said no he'd go away and you'd never have to worry about it.

If not your kid, would you sacrifice your own life?

And if your initial reaction was "no", what if God told you that your child would grow up to be a serial killer?

It's just a hypothetical "what if." Don't be so sensitive. Sheesh.

A million poor African children are just theoretical -- without names or faces. Your own child is your flesh and blood, the child you love. Of course, if you are normal and sane, you would not sacrifice your child for any reason. My child would never grow up to be a serial killer! In actuality, I have no children, but I feel very strongly that if I did, I would never knowlingly endanger that child's life. It is God's responsibility to see that those children in Afica do not die! If I had the assets, I would willingly give to charities which would send aid to the children. And, by the way, I would feel no different if those million threatened children were American, European, Asian, South American, or Australian. In this day and age, there are more scientific methods for saving them than would be accomplished by my sacrificing my own child or even myself, another option that I would decline!

After God did that to AbrahamHe likely wouldn't force anyone to make that choice again. Even then, after the choice was made to sacrifice Isaac, God sent an angel to stop Abraham's hand and told him he did not have to kill his own son.

So I can't believe that He would try to test anyone else the same way, even with "your child's death will save millions more." One life is not less important or more important than any other, and putting a parent in that position would be beyond unfair, it would be cruel. And my God is not cruel.

Generosity towards others of your species that have no direct relation to your blood line and have no benefit for yourself has been proven to be a genetic mutation that is slowly being breed out. The fact is we were never met from a genetic stand point to care about anyone other then our own preservation. Now nature is actively breeding that out of the gene pool. Now on to the question, no I would not. I wouldn’t sacrifice my child to save the life of even a billion human lives. I’d rather kill a million people then to even consider killing my own.

Well, I don't want to be the one to burst your bubble but God asked a man, Abraham, to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Abraham obeyed and God stopped him before he did it. Later God sacrificed his own son to save ALL of mankind. The choice of accepting that sacrifice is up to you. God wont make you sacrifice your child for others because it has already been done. It is completed. It is finished. Do you accept it as sufficient for you?

You didn't say how this "god" would identify himself . If a person came up to me and said he's god , I'd take him for a koo-koo .
Don't worry about the Africans loosing a million kids . They can bang out that many more in few days . They're not too great at anything else , but kids - - - - -

Ah, no, I'd put down the crack first. How can a non-existant thing fall out of the sky and give me a choice about something like that? Yes, I am concered, but I doubt 'God' would ever do that, even if He did try that with Abraham in the Bible.

I wouldn't because I'm only 13! And I would tell him to ask my step dad because my mom is obsessed with Africa.
If I HAD a kid and God said he'd become a serial killer, I'd say "Now you're just trying to get me to do it."

Our country is so worried about other third world countries that we forget about the children here in the US (Angelina Joli getting international attention because she "rescued" a couple of kids from a small country, Oprah starting a school for girls in South Africa). Don't get me wrong that they are don't something commemorable but we need to look around and see what's in front of us.

Yes, I would save the lives of millions of children by sacrificing my own child ( I would rather myself). I believe there is a need for reflection. A million families who would loose their children, so I won't lose mine. I would hope others could learn to sympathize/ empathize a little more, and open your hearts.

I would, of course.

Except I wouldn't sacrifice him or her to hell, and I wouldn't kill him myself either, not in that sense, no. I would still make sure that my kid is safe though, and it wouldn't really matter if he or she was a serial killer or not. That's not the question for me. But 100,000,000 saved souls is always better than one, no matter who it is, even though every one of them counts. That's why it's so hard and so sad.
