It would not affect his disability from Social Security or his medicare. If he has medicaid, it might affect that because of your income and other things like food stamps etc. That will depend on your income level. But the disability and his medicare will not change. Medicaid and medicare are two different things.

Getting married in and of it self, no. However, in getting married, the spouses income and assets are also considered when determing eligibility. If you make more than their financial requirements, he will loose benefits.

Honestly, unless you have super super super super super insurance that will cover him after diagnosis, dont get married. My sig other and I are in the same spot. He makes too much money but the insurance available to him wont cover even a fraction of my treatment and meds. We live together, but I report him as a room mate and not part of my household.

If you are really bent on needing that marriage title, do a lil ceremony with your clergy or preist that affirms your spiritual union and dont worry about it.

About previous posts... you need to know for sure if he is on medicare or medicaid. May even be both, as I am on both. If this just happened, its medicaid. It takes 24 months to qual for medicare. And even with medicare, they do infact look at total finances and disability payments will be adjusted or cut off due to work by him and other assets and financial income.

Your income would be considered for Medicaid purposes. It might not affect the disability--for that you have to check with your state's department of labor, as each state differs.
