I'm typing a research paper in MICROSOFT WORD. Ok like I was typing and I looked up and saw a mistake. When I went back to fix it every thing after it was being erased by what I was typing. The words didnt just move to the side as they usually do. Every new thing I typed erased the last thing. How do I MAKE IT STOP!!

press INSERT on your keyboard! (If insertion is enabled (which it is in your case) it will be disabled, if it's disabled it will be enabled, this gets tricky because there is no LED light indicator on the keyboard that tells you when insert is activated, you just have to test it out while typing!

Good luck in the research paper!

TIP: To double space select all and press "CTRL + 2" (the number 2 on top of the keyboard) ;)

Ya, you accidentally hit the "Insert" key on your keyboard. If you want to know if the "Insert" key is activated, you can do that in Word itself

Open Microsoft Word. On the bottom completely there's a status bar displaying some stuff including "REC","TRK", "EXT", "OVR". If you pressed the "Insert" key on your keyboard, the "OVR" will be activated.

I havent used Microsoft Word but that has happened to me, on the bottom of your page look for something that says OVR if it is in black double click it so it goes transparent.

I hope they havent changed the program because when I did that it stopped it.

It's a problem in formatting. In your Word program try going to tools, auto correct and replace text as you type. and see if that does it.

its happened to me so many times before too. Its called overtype mode. To change it, go to Tools, than options. Go to the edit tab, then uncheck the box that says overtype mode. After that, everything should be fine.

Press the "Insert" button on your keyboard. Pressing it again will make it happen again (turn it on and off).

There are settings in your word processing software that give you that option. Learn how to use your software, it is not a fault with the computer.
