Ok so i am thinking about getting another dog (a yorkie) and i already have a Basset Hound(8 years old) if i get this new dog do you think my other dog will get jelous of it and not like the new dog??

Probably....You just have to introduce them slowly so there is no jealousy.

It would be better if you had done this when the basset was younger. Bassets are pretty laid back and yorkies are high strung so they will not be compatible temperaments. The basset is bigger so will be dominant but I don't think either will be very happy together - especially if you show a lot of attention to the new dog.

Some of it depends upon you and the personality of your dog. I have 4 dogs, 2 Males and 2 Females. 3 of them get along well, but the 2 Males are both alpha dominant and don't like each other. One of the females gets along with all dogs very well.
You need to make sure that you give your Basset plenty of attention and don't focus on the new dog completely. I try to give each one of my dogs personal attention each day.

your other dog will most likely be a little jealous but if you try to treat them equally and try to show both dogs that you love them both the same and there is not a dominant dog. Try to also teach them to share each others toys , beds, ect. If you do this they can become the best of friends and you won't need to worry about jealously just try not to seem like you have a favorite. hope everything works out!

Most likely, when we got our new dog awhile back, my old dog was jealous so I started playing with him, then the new dog got jealous... it was a mess, but soon, he will get over it.
Enjoy your new puppy! Make sure it's from a homeless animal shelter thing!

chances are good, but will get over it, plus your old dog isnt going to like if the pup is jumpy.

it depends on both of the dogs personalities.u never no they may love each other or they may hate each other i think it depends on their personalities.

They will learn to get along......if the dags are the same sex it will be a lot better...for everyone!
