You can sing whatever you want. Being Catholic has nothing to do with imposing rules on non-Catholics. One of the most important things a Catholic can do is to love their neighbours as themselves. So sing, sing and sing.

Yes. Non-Catholic Christians can sing "Ave Maria". It's actually recommended.

What do you mean 'allowed'?? Being in a religion helps you spiritually and all that. But it is your choice if you want to sing it or not. There are some of us catholics that go to church and still don't sing it. So what? It's not like someone will come after you and crucify you. God is not going to punish you for not being in a religion and sing that song. So go ahead girl, sing with your heart. -By the way, I personally think that if you'd like to ground more of your spiritual foundation, then go to the church. If not, then don't. Period.

Of course a non-Catholic & even a non-Christian can sing "Ave Maria," anywhere, provided that they are sincere when they sing Mary's Hymn.
God Bless.

amazing.... people who screach that "CAtholic worship Mary" have no problem enjoying the bauty of the Ave Maria -- a song showing the beauty of Mary and her as a gift from God. I wonder if ya'll know that Latin translates to English.... here's a rough translation:
Ave Maria, gratia plena
Hail Mary, full of grace
Dominus tecum, benedicta tu
The Lord is with you, blessed are you
In mulieribus et benedictus
Among women and blessed
Fructus ventris tui Jesus.
The fruit of your womb, Jesus
Sancta Maria, Sancta Maria,
Holy Mary, Holy Mary
Maria ora pro nobis,
Mary pray for us,
Nobis pecatoribus,
For us sinners,
Nunc et in ora,
Now and in the hour,
In ora mortis nostrae.
In the hour of our death.
Amen
prayer can be sung, thought or spoken or even an action and can beoffered anywhere -- even in the shower!

What do you mean "allowed?" By whom? As long as you're in America you can sing what you want. There are no song police here.
I'm an atheist, but I've always found "Ave Maria" to be a beautiful hymn.

Anyone who can sing, can sing Ave Maria, anywhere they want. It was written by Franz Shubert.
I've been a musician all my life, and I believe that anyone should be able to sing any song, any where.

I've never been Catholic, and I've definitely sung the Ave Maria. It's a piece of music, not a sacred scripture. The Ave Maria has been sung on ships, in concert halls, in protestant churches, and on front lawns. It is a beautiful work, regardless of your belief. Don't make it something it's not, please.
