Does having a girlfriend contribute to weight gain in a subconscious way?

I've gained 100 pounds in 5 years, about the same duration of time I've been dating my fiancee. Prior to that time I worked out a lot and had a toned body. Now I'm at an embarassing 270. I've never incorporated a lifestyle of healthy living. I have always vowed to change, but nothing ever happens.

In a way, it does. People tend to let loose once they feel comfortable because they aren't on the market anymore. The first step is realizing what is happening, and you seem to be on the right path. The next step is to accept it and do something about it.

I don't know about having a girlfriend, but research shows that getting married ads about 20 lbs.
