It seems that the only thing christians and atheists agree on is sexism - I meet equal numbers of both groups who are very prejudiced against women.

what do you think?

Misogyny is inherent in our society but having lived in both a Christian and a scientific world, women stood a much better chance with the scientists.

Scientists are taught to THINK, allowing for their biases. Christians are taught to OBEY, period.

As a woman, I HAVE biases against women, due to socialization.

Since I can account for them I can adjust myself to any given data accordingly.

Peace.

Personally, I've never met an atheist who is prejudiced against women. I'm sure they exist, but not nearly in the same numbers as do fundamentalist Christians who are prejudiced against women.

I don't know many modern Christians who aren't fundamentalists who are prejudiced against women (or anybody else). Most Christians are as loving and kind as most atheists I know.

I think women are hot. Just a judgment I have made about them before actually meeting them. Guilty as charged.

My wife will work circles around any man. She walks five miles a day at a major computer processor manufacturer and does more than most people she works will do all week. Yet here I sit, an utter waste of space, make twice as much money as her. The world is still messed up.

OK, this may be somewhat spurred by the atheist statement question that you answered a few minutes back. While you may have seen it as "male centric", "he" is actually the accepted universal 3rd person singular pronoun, and is merely an abbreviation of "he or she", as well as the singular male 3rd person pronoun.

No prejudice against women at all here. While the universal 3rd person singular pronoun may seem sexist in nature, it's just the way it's been, and no sexism is intended.

I don't know if atheists are monolithic enough to ascribe sexism to them as a group. I have seen some denominations that are clearly sexist in their bias--it usually comes across these days as a subtle condescending to women. Though, by no means have I seen it rampant. It will likely pass more and more away as the old guard pass more and more away.

I personally have yet to meet an Atheist that is, as you say; "very prejudiced" against women.
Christians, on the other hand, seem to regard them as something lower than dogs.

Disagree. Some atheists are sexist, though there seems to not be a sexist trend. Most Christians are sexist, as it comes with nearly all religious teachings.

I couldn't honestly say that I've met many sexists. At least none that were overtly so. I would hope that neither group exhibits that kind of behavior. Especially the Atheists.
