They signed a contract and it should be honored and because it will make sour old lemons like you wrinkle at the thought of the money being paid over to them without completing their service.

When pro athletes get injured they have to return the money! Why are soldiers any different? You takes your chances and if it happens you live with the consequences! The latest generation wants it all. Next they'll expect someone else to go out on patrol for them! What a bunch of whiners!

They should keep their bonuses, if they are hurt on the Job, it's the jobs responsibility.
If a pro athlete is injured, is he required to give some of his money back? No, he sits on the side line while getting paid.

Actually, this story is BOGUS. There is a clause in the bonus contract that distinctly says that you keep your bonus (even if you are discharged) as long as it's due to "death, illness, or injury. I'll attach a direct copy of this section...it falls under termination without recoupment...meaning that you are terminated from the bonus program but you do not repay any amount (as opposed to termination with recoupment for any discharge not related to death, illness or injury).

-------------------------------SECTION V – TERMINATION WITHOUT RECOUPMENT-------------------------------

I understand that I will be terminated from bonus eligibility without recoupment, if I:

5. I am separated due to death, injury, illness or other impairment not the result of my own misconduct.

6. I have read Section V and understand the contents thereof. ______ (Initial)

I really hope this is some kind of SNAFU and these poor people don't get screwed over.

Just the thought that we'd send people over to get their limbs blown off and then try to take back money they were paid infuriates me.

Wounded servicemen should keep their bonuses because they did the job they signed up to do. Unfortunately, the act of service rendered them unable to continue to serve. That isn't their fault.

Because they have the guts and personal fortitude to sign up and serve our country.

The bonus is for the commitment to serve a tour of duty. If they don't make any decisions to rescind this commitment, they should keep their bonus. An injury is not them deciding to break their commitment.

Why should this nation have unions to protect their overly paid lazy employees who make 30 dollars an hour? They drive the prices of American made products, and don't seem to be concerned about you or I. Unions are why products are manufactured any where but the USA it seems.
