The Buddha didn't go into detail about such cosomological questions. He thought such speculation would only distract one from living in the present moment and hinder them on their path to enlightenment.

The main thing the Buddha emphasized is that you should not 'believe' anything he says. You should test his, and any other source of knowledge you choose to use, teachings out in your life, observe them to be true or false yourself.

Buddhism works closely with science.
Therefore, the general belief of the world's origins is in line with the current scientific explanations.
Then again, Buddhists do not fret over such questions, as the answer has little bearing on whether or not we *are* here.

Buddhists generally believe that the universe has always been there and always will be there in its current state.

we believe in beginingless time.
we tend not to spend too much time wondering where it all began but concentrate on where we are going and how to get there. Enlightenment is where its at!!

When this is, that is.
From the arising of this comes the arising of that.
When this isn't, that isn't.
From the cessation of this comes the cessation of that.
