So I'm 15, and i've just recently gotten addicted to coffee with coffeemate creamer. The creamer is only 15 calories, and i don't use too much of it. I only drink one cup a day, is this bad for me?

I RARELY ever drink coke. Probably once a month or less. We don't buy them. I only drink water and juices. Water, Juice, coffee, and soy milk (vanilla and chocolate) are all i drink at home. They're the only drinks in our fridge.

I looked at the Coffeemate ingredients list. Partially hydrogenated oil is listed. However, there is no trans fat listing in the percentage of fats listings. I do not buy anything with paritally or fully hydrogenated oils in it. Even if the label says zero grams of trans fat, there could still be less than one gram. By law zero can be listed. Still, less than one gram is too much for me.

I agree with Voice, as I've heard similar things. I think Coffeemate and similar products are pure junk. (One of my husband's food drawbacks is to have a large mug of fat free French vanilla cappuccino mix with fat free French vanilla creamer.) I like black coffee, though occasionally I'll put in some chocolate or vanilla soy milk. I'd rather have a four cup pot of coffee than a can of Coke.

Coffee is not recommended for growing girls because of it's diuretic properties (it makes you lose water). Also coffee, specifically caffeine, has been shown to leech calcium and other minerals out of your teeth and bones. That said, as long as you follow the serving size on the creamer it shouldn't be too bad. But remember that 100% of the calories in Coffeemate are from fat. So you will never completely be filled up by it. And unlike carbs and protein which can change into other things as needed, fat can only be fat. So if you start over-pouring you're going to be stacking up extra calories.

Also I put a link to the coffeemate website for products. I looked at the nutritional facts. Although they have fat listed as an ingredient they don't list whether it contains trans-fat. Which is a red flag. Trans-Fat is a man made fat that can clog your arteries.

ever thing in moderation. a gallon a day won't keep the doctor away, but be reasonable. As for organic coffee, why? where it grows they can't afford pesticides and the plant doesn't need them anyway. the swiss water process is used by everyone anyway, so don't pay a penney more if someone claims its superior. Another process uses a powerful solvent to remove caffeine, that solvent ? CO2, nothing more natural than CO2. Stay healthy in other ways too, moderation, don't go all veggie, all, fish, all of anything. Visit your Dr regularly and be safe.
