Go to your Police department, talk to someone there that's involved in community service division, tell them what you would like to do and be involved in. You might just be asked to set up a neighborhood watch program in your area with your neigbors Good Luck with your efforts..

Unless you really want to be a police officer, you can check with your local department and see if they have a civilian group. Like Citizens on Patrol or what ever it might be called in your town. You can be just as effective behind the scenes as you are in the middle of it. Just a suggestion.

The first thing you need is a good heart, so that you uphold the law, rather than distort it. Dishonesty in the police department is as criminal as the criminal element itself. We need dedicated, sincere police officers who genuinly want to maintain the peace. We need police officers who are color blind--who uphold the law for all of the people and not just a few. If this is in your heart to do, I wish you every success in pursuing your goal. We need you!

I think we need to turn back some of the touchy feely left wing laws that pamper criminals and hamper law enforcement. Let the boys and blue go crazy on these drug dealers that are ruining our communities. I live in rural VT, many people in rural areas are seeing a massive influx of drugs brought in by INNER CITY gangs. They actively search out rural communities to spread their operations to and have done this for many years. Everyone knows it but no one can stop it because our laws are to lax on pieces of crap.

If you are trying to rid your community of drugs and crime becoming a state sponsored thug probably won't help much. Crime and drugs are highly correlated with poverty (who would have guessed) and police officers (many of whom are very good people) don't help with that.
