supposed to look at each other? Has there ever been a more ridiculous story, other than the ones we may hear in the answers here as people try to twist the story to fit their twisted thinking?

I think actually it was God they were hiding their nakedness from. The point is that they had just had their eyes opened to ideas of right and wrong and already had social taboos. You have to take into account that 1) this is allegory, and 2) the culture that wrote this story down probably didn't have such a thing as recreational nudism.

Let me tell you the right "story" about what has happened.

Adam was the first man and Eve was made from Adam`s body part. They were living together in there wonderful garden with every kinds of fruit and joys, but one apple tree was forbiden to be eaten, by God, but the snake(devil) who was on the tree somehow tricked Eve to try from the forbiden fruit and gave her an apple too,Adam was against that but Eve convinced him to try and they tried the forbiden fruit and after trying it they realized that they were naked and they started to be ashamed of each other and they started to hide themselves with liefs.
And don`t think that this is a ridiculous story because it is wrong and it is a true story and that is how we are here now, how we exist today. You know how people are and how from a small thing they make an enormous problem. That is why you think that it is a twisted thinking.
My advice for you is to read the Bible and to try to understand some things.
Hope this will help you because God is always around us and with us.He is a spirit, great spirit.

Adam and Eve were innocent in the Garden until they partook of the forbidden fruit. That partaking became their first exercise of agency in the which the disobeyed God. That disobedience is what brought about their concept of knowing right from wrong and what got them expelled from the Garden where only purity could dwell. Having exercise their agency and disobeyed God, they were no longer pure and had to leave the Garden. At that time, they were given clothes to cover their nakedness because they were no longer innocent and became subject to the desires of the flesh. Thus, modesty and chastity became the norm. While in the Garden they would have looked upon each other but with innocence and not with lust or carnal desire. After they left the Garden, then Adam began to "know" his wife and to have children by her. Had they remained in the Garden, not having partaken of the forbidden fruit, they never would have "known" each other and never would have had children.

Not supposed to look at each other? Have you read the story? No, Adam and Eve had to be told they were naked, because they knew not the difference. They looked at each other obviously, because Eve talked to Adam before eating the fruit, and after.

Why would you ask this question merely to offend the people of whom you want to answer it? Have you actually read the story? Had you actually read it, it says nothing about the fact that they were not supposed to look at each other. They were actually totally oblivious to the fact that they were nude. It was a factor of their daily life much as a blind man eventually becomes oblivious to the fact that he is blind. Maybe you should actually read the story before you go offending people who have a certain belief and can defend it.

There are Indian tribes in South America where the people go completely naked . They think no more of the next person's body than they would of a fully clothed person .
You want a more ridiculous story - - - try to explain what a three-in-one god is . I don't mean shamrock leaves or eggs , or "persons" . Use people instead . Tell me how three can be one , or one can be three .

Who says they could not look at each other in their "birthday suits"? They were man and wife as you know, and God sanctifies sexual relations between (and only between) married couples. and not simply for procreation either. Read the Song of Solomon.

(Heb 13:4) "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."

The reason for the fig leaves was that they were ashamed, after having sinned and lost their innocence, and the resultant changes in man's nature mandated that their normal condition in public was to be clothed.

Public nakedness is spoken of a shameful thing, and can be related with demon possession. A womens naked beauty is not for public consumption, but for the man who has earned the right to behold, by the life long spiritual and social contract called marriage. And which provides the security necessary for mutual openness and vulnerability, and blessed sexual relations and the best raising of the normal product of such, children.

But ultimately, most importantly is how one is clothed spiritually, as we must be "clothed" in righteousness in order to be with God, and that can only come by receiving the righteousness of Jesus, and being forgiven because He shed His sinless blood for us.

(Rev 3:5) "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."

(Acts 3:19) "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"

It is pretty conclusive that we DID all come from a single woman. The question is when and where.

This "EVE" did not have a mother, because even APES have Mitochondrial DNA

They certainly were supposed to look at each other. That's why they were not created wearing clothing. And that's also why we're here now.

I like your thinking. Here's a more ridiculous one:

A schizophrenic man walks around claiming to be the son of God so that he can get tortured on a cross. And by doing so, his blood will save all of mankind, because he loves you and dies for your sins.

Oh and then he comes back to life 3 days later and marries a prostitute and lives happliy ever after with a whore.
