They're probably not used to seeing people of your desent. I don't think they mean any harm and yes it can be a bit rude. I understand it can be a bit uncomfortable for you. Maybe try to get to know a few of those people or once they get used to seeing you they may not stare so much. Good luck. 2D

The people who stare at you are the ones who are ignorant. You shouldn't even give them the time you are spending writing about them. Although I know how you feel ,four yrs. ago I came down with the flu and then I though I was over this I went out sun tanning. The next thing I knew it was eighteen days later and 20lbs lighter, the virus had entered my right lung. I was put through the wringer, they thought that I had T. B.When all was said and done I have to wear a respiratory mask, when I go out. At first this was hard but now I don't care what they say or think, because anyone with an ounce of common sense should know that I wear the mask for protection. you shouldn't bother to worry about those people Just smile and go on your way or if you really want to get their goat, say good morning smiling all the time .You will be surprised what a greeting with a smile can do. Good Luck

I'm white and have black friends, and I sometimes get weird looks for that too. Part of why people are looking at you is probably because you live in a small town and people there aren't used to much racial diversity like they would be in a big city. I've been to New York city, and no one really gives you a second glance no matter what you look like. You will see EVERYTHING in New York.

Just remember that they probably don't hate you or anything like that, you just look different. Many of them are probably just curious. You could (and I'm completely serious when I say this) be really pretty to a lot of them. To some, you may seem exotic-looking. So don't worry so much about it, it may not be a bad thing. Or you could move to New York :)

If someone makes a face at you or points you out, do this:
Walk up to them with a smile on your face and ask if there is a problem (do NOT imply that you think they are racists because if you have something stuck to your shie or something like that, you'll look like an idiot). If you are absolutely positively sure that there is nothing unusual about your appearance, then you could say to them (with a smile on your face) "Is there a problem? Because I was just going out to get food, you know, so I don't DIE. Could you please stop picking on me for walking on public property, or must I wear a mask for your personal comfort? Thank you!"
Or, if you are a bit more shy, you could just say "Did you like the show?"
Or, if you are just not up to being rude, then you could just avoid that place and ignore people who do that. Unfortuantly, some people hve different views of the world, and we can't do anything about it.

Ahhh...small town ignorance at its finest.
Someone please tell these people that despite what they want to believe--there are actually different races of people in the world,

It is exceptionally rude for people to do this and further, please do not accept anyone's excuse that it's simply because they are not used to seeing anyone of color around their area--that is not even remotely an acceptable reason for pointing or staring at people.

If I would have stared at a colored or disabled person when I was young, my Grandmother would have really whacked me one for sure! It is absolutely not polite whatsoever to openly stare at people for any reason. What is wrong with this world????

Unfortunately, despite how you would like to probably behave when this happens, the best thing to do is to disarm them with kindness, give them a big wide smile when they stare or take notice of you. Nothing throws people off more than random acts of good manners and kindness.

Having them see that you've caught them staring is embarrassing for them enough, smiling while doing so may make them feel just awkward enough to just come right out and say hi to you and get to know you better.

With humor and kindness. You don't want to stoop to the level of rudeness. You have an opportunity to teach people that visual differences are only that. Approach them, say "yes, I see you looking, I am from ____, how are you today?" That will also cause them to realize they've been caught staring and pointing, but most likely, they will react with interest.

These people sound very close minded and stupid if they would stare at someone because they're a different race. I would say try to pay them no mind

Wave at them like an idiot. Most the time people don't realize they are staring and by waving at them they realize they are and you noticed it. It's not right for them to stare, but waving back like an idiot makes them look paranoid and rude.
