I named my dog, Esperanza which means "hope" in Spanish. I neither speak or understand Spanish. I have multiple sclerosis and wear a plastic wristband that symbolizes my support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. On the band is their watchword: HOPE. I was going to name my dog hope but she needed a more special and unique name. I looked up the word "hope" in foreign language dictionaries. When I saw "Esperanza" in the Spanish dictionary I loved it. And Esperanza is my little hope. She is the best dog in the world. She keeps me walking getting the much needed exercise to keep my disease in check. She is also going to be a therapy dog and a service dog. Esperanza is the best thing that has happened in my life in a very long time.

I named my JRT Pip because she has a perfect black circle above her tail. When I first got her, I said she looked like a 1-blank domino. The dots on dominoes are called pips, hence the name. She gets called Pip-hop a lot because of all her energy. My other dog was already named Le Roi when I adopted him so I kept it. He was a hurricane Katrina survivor and I figured he had been through enough and didn't need to learn a new name.

I always name our dogs. I named our latest Bull Terrier Trinity.
I named her that for three reasons. First because she is a tri-color, second because she came from a situation between me and another breeder that screwed me over and a third party that went above any call of duty to make things right, and lastly because she predominantly black and it reminded me of the woman on the Matrix.

Her registered name is (will be when I get around to sending in her paperwork anyway) Galactic Vindication at Zion

I named my Dog Avallon, or Avie for short. I struggled coming up with a name that fit. She is a French Mastiff, the Turner & Hooch dog, so I pulled out a map of France and one of the cities was called "Avallon". I thought it was perfect.......Also, I used to have a Colby Pit Bull, sweetest dog ever! She was always getting into stuff-there was never a boring day with her! So, I named her Odyssey!

I have four dogs and my grandson named them all.
The first is a Chi/Rat Terrier that he named Bear.
The second is a Beagle named Snoopy. I sorta pushed him to the name because the most famous Beagle in the world is Snoopy.
The third is an APBT he named Honey. And she is.
The fourth Is another APBT he named Lilly. I think he and his girl friend came up with it.

I have a Chihuahua that is chocolate and white with four white feet and the tip of his tail is white as well. He has a perfect collar and a strip of white on his face. I named him Hermes. And it fits him cause he moves so fast just like the greek messenger of the gods.
My new dogs name is Saki, he is a staffordshire terrier mix. I don't have any significance behind that one....LOL

I named our former shihtzu Porkchop- just because he was a porker.
Our weimeramer is named Ani- short for Animale from a spanish song we learned on a trip to Europe with 54 middle school kids.
Our new puppy (dogue de bordeaux) is named Cain (Riverbend's Raising Cain) because he's a wild one!

I named my dog Mack Truck (Mack for short) Because as a very young puppy (he just turned 9 months) he barreled through anything in his way. He still uses his chest to body slam while playing and has muscled out so he now resembles a barrel on legs.

My husband named our husky Silas, after the guy in Davinci Code I think... I named our rescued mutt Trouble, not because he is any trouble, but because he got me into BIG trouble with my husband when I came walking through the door with him. Haha. He's a part of the family now and I call him Trubbs more than Trouble.
