Also, I used it for one graduate class while I was still in about 3 years ago, so I know the clock is ticking. How long is it good for?

I did the $100 a month option before they changed it so you could pay $150 a month for 150% of the payout. So what's the maximum payout that I can get?

Sorry.....It's been a while.

Go to www.va.gov

The site has tons of information for you.

You can also talk to a live person that will review what you need to do to use your GI Bill.

Don't go sign up for school before you contact the VA and see what you are eligible for, not all school programs are eligible for GI BIll benefits.

Also, if you have chosen a school already they should have a VA counselor on campus in the admissions office. You will need to talk to them also and do ALL your administrative business through them not the regular admissions office.

Good luck.

You have exactly 10 years from your date of separation or retirement!

I don't know if the VA grants extensions after 10 years!

I'm in the same boat! I have the old Montgomery GI Bill (Vietnam era)

It's good for 10 years after your discharge date. I believe they just did, or are talking about extending to 15 years. The money you got while active doesn't count towards your amount. When you go to sign up for school talk to the VA counselor there.

Go to the VA website for accurate info, not here.

www.va.gov/gibill has a ton of information, but to access the GI Bill all you have to do is go to the college you want to attend and ask to speak to the VA rep. They will provide you all necessary forms and instructions.

Most schools handle that at the office of student financial aid.

They will usually set that up for you if you have it still.
