I am currently in my first semester studying Early Childhood Education (ECE) at Seneca. I am planning on graduating as an Early Childhood Educator and continuing my education. I love working with children and I would love to work or volunteer at an orphanage. My goal would be for the children to be happy and have fun. I would like to spend time with them, get to know each one of them (just like a teacher would with his/ her students).

Would I be able to work in an orphanage after I finish school or would I have to study Social Work to be able to work with orphans?

There are really not many orphanages (at least in the US). Most children are cared for in foster homes at a young age. There are group homes for older youth. You would be able to work in a group home with ECE but you would find more opportunities with a BSW.

Yes you will be able to work with the kids, they will be glad to have an extra hand around especially one eager to learn and one who really cares. I think you made a great career choice, God Bless You and good luck!!!
