I am 21 and I had my ears pierced when I was about 5 so I don't think its a piercing infection. It just recently started and cleaning it doesn't help. When I wear any earrings it continuously leaks a clear to red/brown fluid and forms crusties. When I don't wear earrings, I get the crusties but they don't reform since the hole is not penetrated. Any idea what's wrong?

Try to resist the urge to over-clean. That will just irritate the skin and make it worse. Clean the piercings with a mild soap a couple of times a day and try to keep your hands off the area as much as possible (again, avoiding irritation). Take aspirin to keep the inflammation down. If it doesn't clear up in a few days, head to the doctor.

I suspect nickle sensitivity. If you wear costume jewelry, most contain nickle. Many accessory places make nickle free costume jewelry widely available. Try it and see if it makes a difference.

You might also try rubbing a little cortisone cream or benedryl cream on your lobes. I think either one will give you relief and stop the ooze factor.

I've found that implant grade stainless steel works best in my ears. It wears better than gold and is very reasonably priced.

Good luck.

I would leave the earrings out for awhile. Just keep them clean and dry. Wash only with soap and water and dry thoroughly. By the way, "crusties" is a cool word.

you could be allergic to the metal whether it be nickel of silver... try surgical steel. also it is normal to have a bit of "smelly" stuff on piercings because they dont get cleaned properly and theres places for bacteria to hide. the best thing to do is bathe it with salt water. visit a body piercer if you are concerned of a dr...

you are probably allergic to the metal in the earrings. i am allergic to silver (nickel) and i get the same thing. change the type of earrings you wear and DO NOT wear cheap earrings you pick up in the department stores, wear gold and it will clear up. promise. (doesn't matter if it is white or yellow, as long as it is gold)
