Can you show a specific place in the account of the serpent in the garden where the serpent actually lied?
What does this discovery teach you about temptation?

Read it very carefully. The Serpent answered Eve exactly correctly. In gen 3:3 "Of the fruit of the tree which is in the center of the garden, G-d has said" 'you shall neither eat of it nor TOUCH it, lest you die.;"
Verse 5 is also correct, as G-d did know about good and bad and that was a result of the eating the fruit.

Shneib, I should have been more clear as we agree it was Eve that got it wrong. (I think.) That verse does say Eve got it wrong. There is actually not a single lie the serpent told. The serpent did ask questions that were misleading, but it's impossible to lie in a question.

A lie can be the truth with a "bent". For example, God said that in the day that they eat of the fruit, they will die. The serpent said, "You will not die, but your eyes will be open." This was the truth, but with a "bent". They did not die the moment they ate, but death entered into the world because of it. As noted by Peter, a day is as a thousand years to God. You will note that Adam and Eve never made it to the end of God's day. In fact, the oldest person that ever lived only got to 950 years.
So basically, the lies of the devil are truth with a slight bent to it. Like a plate of good food with only a little bit of poison.
Another example is lying by "omission". When tempting Jesus in the wilderness, the devil quoted scripture regarding jumping off the pinnacle of the temple. However, he left out a portion that read "To keep you in all your ways". So what the devil was saying was true, only with a slight "bent". Again, a plate full of good food, but with only a little bit of poison.

Your details are incorrect. First, the serpent did not say "Of the fruit of the tree which is in the center of the garden, God has said" 'you shall neither eat of it nor touch it, lest you die.'" it was Eve, and she got it wrong. She added to what God said. God never said, "neither should you touch it".
The real lie was not said, but implied. The real lie was "God is holding back something good and fulfilling from you" when in reality, God was protecting and watching over them. That same lie is still around today.

Gen 2
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Gen 3
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
-------
And when Adam and Eve ate of the tree, they didn't die - instead, they knew good and evil. God even admitted as such in Gen 3:22.
Man was already mortal, otherwise eating of the tree of life that would allow Man to "live for ever" wouldn't have mattered.
So God is the one that lied to them, not the serpent...
(And one has to wonder where Eve got the "neither shall ye touch it" part, because she didn't even exist when God handed down the edict to Adam. So did God tell her "don't touch it", or did Adam tell her "God said don't touch it"?)

The "you won't die" part was the lie - since partaking of the fruit led to Adam and Eve becoming mortal and subject to death...but a lot of the other stuff he said was true.
Lesson: Satan mixes truths with lies to confuse people.

Yes, two lies.
1. You shall not die.
