In Hebrew, the word faith has a completely different meaning than in christianity. The word is "emunah" which means to have the attributes of one who has breastfeed.

El Shaddai, which is usually translated as "G-d Almighty" actually means "The big breast" in Hebrews.

A person who has read the Torah and understood it is the one who will suffer affliction therapy. Also a person who refuses to read the Torah and has been taught it will suffer some affliction therapy.

Believe also has a different meaning. It is closer to the concept of trust. We trust that the Torah teaches us how to live. If we don't follow that trust and live in the way G-d taught us in the Torah, then we will suffer just enough to guide us back.

It's a much more beautiful relationship than the "blind faith" arguement. It's based on the concept of a loving G-d teaching us, and then us following those teachings.

Shalom

There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving!

Deviating from God's plan is what "sin" is. There are many ways of looking at sin , but from the universe philosophic viewpoint sin is the attitude of a personality who is knowingly resisting cosmic reality. Error might be regarded as a misconception or distortion of reality. Evil is a partial realization of, or maladjustment to, universe realities. But sin is a purposeful resistance to divine reality—a conscious choosing to oppose spiritual progress.

Religion is a personal relationship with God, not membership at a church. Religion, the conviction- faith of the personality, can always triumph over the superficially contradictory logic of despair born in the unbelieving material mind. There really is a true and genuine inner voice, that " true light which lights every man who comes into the world. " And this spirit leading is distinct from the ethical prompting of human conscience. The feeling of religious assurance is more than an emotional feeling. The assurance of religion transcends the reason of the mind, even the logic of philosophy. Religion is faith , trust, and assurance.

The Bible has been added to, taken from, edited, censored, distorted, and has stories which have lost all of their factual meaning through man's traslation of them over a long period of time.

This probably won't surprise you, but when Bill Gates dies, he is not going to leave you his fortune.

It is not because you are evil, or he has something against. You might be a wonderful person, and may even have contributed to his fortune by buying and using his products. But Gates is still not going to leave you anything.

It is because he has no relationship with you.

Christianity is build on a relationsip with God. Through prayer, the Bible, the church, etc we come to know God an intimate way. Because of that we are have to have "faith" in him.

Over 34 years I have come to know my wife well enough that if I ask her something, I can have faith in her answer. When she says she loved me, I can trust that. We have a relationship build over the years on that faith, trust, and respect.

When a Christian as "faith" in God, it is based on the same thing, having spend enough time with him to be able to trust him. It is not "blind faith" or "lack of evidence", but rather times together that build a relationship that does not require those things for me to accept his word. Of course, they are available if I want to look for them, just the prove of my wife's love is available in her actions, deeds and words if I want to look at them.

If you want to have a "faith" which does not include a relationship with God, you can do that. But in the end, if you find yourself cut out of his "will", you have no one to blame but yourself. You made the choice not to have a relationship that would have put you in his blessings.

Your question has two parts. Faith is needed for the Bible as in anything. The people we trust, our jobs, the people we hire to do jobs just do not come with a sign saying "TRUSTED". If they do--RUN AWAY.

We have only faith our friends will stay loyal. Our employers will deliver a cashable paycheck for our work. Contractors will do a competent job for an honest, fair payment. All these things are based on faith.

As with all these things, this faith is based on observations of prior experience and what these people have done in the past. The Bible is no different.

We can have faith in the Bible from its history of telling the truth and from its accuracy in the past. So we can believe in future promises.

As for being condemned, choice is what its all about. From the beginning, we got into this mess due to Adam's choice of believing he could rule himself without God. He did not need to obey God with the one law he had. Satan said humans only seemed to obey God for what they got from Him and not out of love. For Justice and Righteous sake, God has allowed time for this to be settled.

Out of Love, God has provided a way out for humans by way of Jesus' sacrifice. We all have a free choice to take advantage of it or not. All of us must choose whom we will serve--God or Satan--no third choice. For those who never got to choose before death, God has provided a resurrection for them to learn then choose.

God plainly wrote down His standards. He stated the obvious only He can give life, Satan can not. He explained the consequences of not following Him and how to worship Him properly. It is up to us to make sure we are doing as God approves. It is our choice to choose Him or not.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. --Hebrews 11:1

You receive faith by repenting of sin, by the hearing of the word of God.

Today the concept that we are sinful by nature is considered the paramount evil.

"...All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all... ... The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved..." (Catechism Of The Catholic Church, sections 842, 843 : http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm ).

EDIT: My view is that the Catholic Church teaches the truth. Therefore, all my posts stem from that view.

Don't know about all these catholics but my faith in Christ is based on faith supported by fact and evidence. I have never seen any fact or evidence that has shaken my faith.

if you truly do not believe then you can't really be condemned because only God can truly "condemn" so if you don't believe He exist then you obviously have faith that there's no one to condemn you

If you don't even believe what is your point? Besides you have answered you own question. If you don't believe you are condemned.
