I assume you mean Santa since you mentioned cookies! I think I stopped believing in him around age 7 because my older sister told me! I did continue to pretend to believe in Santa for a couple of years after that because I thought they would stop giving me presents from Santa....I was wrong...I am now 49 and when I go to my parents at Christmas there is still always something from Santa which I find really cute.

Santa Claus? well, none of us in school beleived in him, but we celebrated either way. I went to an All hispanic school and we walked around asking what our moms were getting us for christmas. We had a Claus once in a while come in and talk to us about being naughty or nice like our Moms didnt beat us up enough to know the difference. And we also had nice strangers give us stuff which I do now to other kids in low income families.

Stop believing in what or whom? The Toothfairy? God? The Great Pumpkin? The Flying Sphaghetti Monster?

I stopped believing in the traditional God after Jesus failed to keep his promises "If you ask anything in my name, It will be given to you." You'll note that there are no conditions, nothing here about having tons of faith, so I asked for $100,000,000 or higher winnings in Powerball, and that the winnings be in a timely fashion, like in the next six months or so, but nothing. Five years later, still nothing! I asked, but did not receive!
Screw it, should have prayed to the Great Pumpkin, at least then, being sincere, I might have gotten some nice toys!

On the other hand, I've never stopped believing in the Flying Sphaghetti Monster who answered my prayer for a six-pack of Budweiser!

Snicker (I guess you are referring to Santa) I lived in the ghetto. Santa couldn't get any cookies from us. He would have had to leave some for us because we were hungry.

To answer your question, I can't remember when I stopped believing in Santa because I really don't remember if I ever believed in Santa.

Somewhere around 5 I stopped believing in him. It just didn't make sense. Even at that age it all sounded illogical. I asked my parents to tell me the truth and they insisted he was real. I knew they were lying and I was furious and even debated it with them as best I could at 5.

I never forgave them for lying to me. And it literally affected my relationship with them for years afterward.

Parents when your kid is old enough to ask they're old enough for the truth. Don't underestimate the damage what you feel is a cute little lie can do.

Grade school I would guess. I didn't come to terms with it for years though. Then again Jesus wasn't eating my cookies...
