Although it's not a family secret recipe , I do make a special Chocolate Pie and or Pumpkin. Nothing is out of a can (pumpkin) or box (pudding) and is all made from scratch, even the crust. Those frozen pie pastries are just gross unless in an emergency. The chocolate pie filling is made from eggs, condensed milk, flour , sugar, vanialla and butter, and of course semi sweet choc. chips. The pumpkin ( chiffon pie) is made from fresh pumpkin that I've cooked fresh, not out of a can. It really makes a big difference that way and they don't get as watery on the top.

Yes, my grandmother made a green bean casserole but PLEASE no Campbell's soup!!! Her recipe uses bacon and real chopped onions, you make a roux then add the green beans with their liquid. You also add a small amount of small diced boiled potatoes and sour cream and paprika and a splash of vinegar. And no Durkee fried onions on top (although my husband still likes those fried onions so I let him add his at the table. It's Hungarian and it is so much better than the standard casserole that everyone else makes.

Momma Willis' Baked Pineapple -- it is a hit wherever I take it. One key ingredient: 1 tablespoon of butter per piece of bread for the topping. Mmmmm

For holidays my family has always made a pan of poorman cookies. They are so good fresh out of the oven.
My great grandmother used to bake them, now my grown daughter has carried on this tradition also.
