I don't ever recall renouncing anyone. I just can't find evidence of the existence of a god.

I don't know if ceasing to believe is really "renouncing," but I stopped believing in Jesus and all other gods when I learned enough about science that the universe started to make more sense without a conscious creator and the existence of supernatural powers.

I wouldn't say I renounced anything so much as found a better way for me. I saw a lot of hypocracy in the teachings and the church itself. I wanted to distance myself from it.

I cannot speak personally as I am a practicing Christian but my husband's conversion to Atheism was brought on by harsh and cruel treatment by church leaders as well as some very unfortunate circumstances in his life.

I was a "Christian" for many years, many would view me as a Christian, but God knew what was in my heart. I felt alone and unwelcome by Jesus, never by God. I felt like Jesus didn't want me, it was true. I believe in a God, I always will, no matter how much "logic" their is against it, I can feel His presence, He listens to me, He helps me. But Jesus never saved me. I found out that Christianity wasn't the religion for me because I realized that Christianity isn't the only way to live. It is a good way to live, but If it's not right for you, you need to come to terms with that.

If you mean Christianity, I left 25 years ago because it didn't match the way I felt in my heart. Uplift me, don't try to scare me or make me believe things that just aren't true.
