As Rachal96 said, some vets will give you the option of buying from them or filing a prescription at your pharmacy, mine does. Prednisone is something you could get from the pharmacy but need to be aware of the correct dosage, you wouldn't want to overdose your dog with steriods.

yes, but you certainly don't want to make up dosage yourself. Our vet will give us the option of buying meds from his office, or picking them up from the people pharmacy with a Rx. For some antibiotics now this is a much less expensive option.

Yep-most meds are the same for canine and people use.

Dosage is vastly different. For many it is significantly lower, for others it is higher for dogs (anti-anxiety meds for example are higher for dogs).

Pretty much, yes. If your dog is on it please watch him because it can cause weight gain. My little pom went from 4 to 7 pounds in a month!!! Now she is on a diet.
