I am going to be giving my 3 weeks notice this Friday. I work in an accounting firm and have been here over 1 year. I have heard that the boss will tell you to leave the day you give your resignation because you are leaving to another firm. Would I be eligible for termination pay or severance pay?

No, if you turn in your notice and they ask you to leave right away, you aren't legally entitled to any pay beyond the time you actually worked. A few companies might pay you for some or all of the three weeks, but they don't have to.

As far as I know, if you live anywhere in the USA, they are not legally responsible to pay you any severance or pay for the three weeks notice if they terminate you immediately.

You are certainly eligible if they want to give you money though, but I don't think that's what they have in mind.

Typically, a company does not pay an employee severance pay if they are quitting. The employer would only be obliged to pay you for the hours worked, they do not have to pay you until the end of your notice.

No severance if you leave on your own. They will probably escort you out the same day, but pay you your 3 weeks. No severance or termination pay.
I am surprise that if you work for an accounting firm you don't know that.

Anytime you QUIT you're not entitled to unemployment, or severance pay. Good try though.
