The whole Bible will tell you what you need to know. The Bible says that there are few that follow the narrow way to heaven, and most of the people who say they are Christians are not, because they don't live like Christians like Paul told us to do, and the Bible also tells us that if we don't live like a Christian, we are not (Romans 8). The Bible tells us to examine ourselves (Corinthians something I think) to be sure if we are in the faith. I can't be positive that I am a Christian, but I have seen Christ do a work inside me. As for why I am a Christian, it is because I want to have a relationship with God.

I agree with Oldguy63--the Bible says I was chosen, but more than that, having been on the other side of the fence and once not caring what God thought or wanted from me, it's the only thing that feels right to my soul at all times, no matter what else may be happening around me (or to me).

I don't recall a time that I wasn't a Christian, that I didn't have loads of faith, and that I didn't love God. I did not need a specific verse or book in the Bible to convince me that God was real, nor did I need any proof. I simply have faith in Him.

Because God saved me and made me a Christian by his GRACE.

When one is "saved," he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth.
