Assuming they were on the front this would be sufficient. I usually only run 2 on my front wheel drive cars since this is where the traction and steering are done. Wouldn't do this on a rear wheel drive car though.

While it is OK to put studded tires on the front only of a front-wheel drive car, using studs on all four wheels will improve safety and reduce the possibility of rear-wheel skids while braking or cornering.
Many tire dealers will not mount studded tires on only one axle, because of the liability issues.

Never a good idea. You need the same traction front and back to be safe.
Studs on front only. - The back end will want to swing aroung during breaking
Studs on back only - What's the point. Poor stearing and poor traction.

This doesn't sound like a good idea to me. If you put them on the front you will be at significant risk of putting your car into a spin. If you put them on the back, they will be marginally useful for staying on the road but useless for not getting stuck.
I noticed a lot of people suggesting to put them up front. Tire manufacturers recommend putting new tires on the rear if replacing only a pair because of the risk of oversteer. Same thing would apply for snow tires.

Sure it is. Just be sure to put them on the drive wheels.
Some states do not allow studded snow tires because it tears up the roadway. Check with your DMV first.

as long as they are on the drive wheels, it shouldn't make a very big difference...
running 4 of them wouldn't help much since the other 2 wheels are just "tracking" rather than driving...
