Im not sure as to why you got tattoos but it mustve been a good idea at the time, maybe everyone was getting one, maybe you got dared to do it to prove a point, maybe you thought it would form your identity. Maybe your idol had lots of tattoos and wanted to be just like that person. Im not sure but making your skin have an inky pattern usually describes the point in your life and sometimes the type of person you are. For example a teenager couldve had a piece of artwork from a CD of their favourite band. Look back in the past after having it for 20 years and realised that band had been long gone out the charts.

You must have got them for the wrong reasons. I currently have 3 (getting 4th on 6th December), they all have very special meanings for me, the tribal heart is to remind me I am loved, the elephant with Afrikaans writing (keep strong) is to remind me I can keep strong and my butterfly is to remind me that I can overcome difficult times. My next tattoo will be the kanji symbol for family and 2 larger cherry blossoms (parents) and 3 smaller cherry blossoms (children), this is to remind me that I do have a family that cares. I suffer from severe recurrent depression and these tattoos are visible reminders to me when I get bad. It is because of exactly what my tattoos represent that I know I will never regret them.

Your question isn't necessarily stating you are regretting having them done. Tattoos are OK if they are original and arty and have a hidden personal meaning to them. If you are regretting having them done then why don't you consider having them lasered off.

you must have wanted them cos others have them, but if you have tattoos they must have some significance to you, i have the rolling stones tougue logo with mick underneath it i am getting another a skull with keith under it, they are okay, but not all over the body, like in the programme miami ink on ntl t.v.

You thought it was a good idea at the time; are they meaningless to you now? I have 3 and all of them meant something to me at the time I got them and they still do today.

Luckily I stopped at one, which I still love and is in a hidden place so no one apart from my husbands needs to know it exists.

Well in a negative way I would say because you messed it up! in a positive way i would say because you wanted them at one point in your life. My husband has boths of his arms full of tattoss...like from shoulder to wrist!! also one on the neck!! crazy! and i also ask him the same question...and he just look at me like...i dont know!!
